Hello everyone, I'm new to the IM world. I have no background in IM, web development or programming. Still I see the potential in IM and eager to learn as much as I can. My background a blue collar job and some real estate investing.

I have started learning and created a basic Wordpress blog. It's pretty lame and realized it would take me too much time to create other more elaborate sites.

My question is should I just contract out the work for the basic website(s) I'd like to create or should I learn from scratch. Right now I have enough money and no time (not that I'm wealthy by all means) and just need something up so I can get started.

    I appreciate all suggestions.

People are usually too quick to spend money in the beginning of a new enterprise, thinking that the money invested will bring quick sucess, and it can be the case sometimes but for most it is the opposite. The more you can learn about the nuts and bolts yourself the better imo. And more importantly you develop the skills that will make you a more dynamic IM'er.
On the other hand, buying some quicky pre-made niche sites can save a ton of time and be worth it, just don't expect too much without really digging in and customizing your sites..everbody and their momma has already had the idea of creating profitable blogs with a few spun articles and some outsourced seo.
