New to forum, already confused!

Hello!

Quick summary of how I've gotten here etc,

A property developer here in the UK before the recession hit, if you want to know how to lose 8.5 million worth of property ask me.

I then became a poker player and worked in the poker industry here in the U.K.

I've always owned my own businesses (from renovating sail boats to selling Christmas jumpers the list is pretty big)

I've always been interested in making money online but other than online poker I don't have much experience, I have some rough plans on what I want to do but have been trying to find the best place for information.

Hopefully this place is it.

I will find the right threads for these questions but basically I am deciding between.
- niche or authority site
- affiliate or product creator
- how to market on social media
- and how to create a business from this not a hobby

I have capital and time just not knowledge on this sort of thing. I know the property industry and poker industries like the back of my hand but am assuming this are pretty saturated markets etc.

Choosing between a niche or authority site totally depends on your long-term vision. If you're good at multi-tasking and capable of handling several different topics at the same time, you can better go with an Authority site. As a player in property & poker industry, you can better start out as an affiliate; selling leads so you can make some profits initially and at the same time learning what works and what your target audiences are looking for in a product. You can then create your own product/service after getting a handful of experiences from your affiliate sites.

As for social media marketing, there are several ways and methods to promote your product/service on social media and the tools and methods shared/sold here will make it much easier for you and save you a lot of time. You can read this section to get more indepth knowledge about social media marketing strategies. We all started IM as a hobby and turned it into a full-time business running 24/7 on autopilot.

starting with affiliate marketing is what I was leaning towards, just to get my feet wet I guess.

Looks like I have allot of reading to do about social media, just hope I don't spend too much time reading about action that I should be taking instead of getting on with it.

I've got a nasty habit of listening to podcasts about internet marketing, instead of actually marketing some of the internet.

Sounds like a plan! Listening to podcasts/audiobooks is a really good habit and a research shows 63% of wealthy people listen to them during daily commute. I do it all the time. Just don't make it eat your time while you're doing your work. There's no fixed schedule when it comes to IM but if you split up your time for each tasks, you will find yourself work more efficiently and achieve a lot more.

Sounds like my issue, lost close to 2.5 million in other ventures and said forget it, online seems to be the way to go. Best of luck to you, you got a plan thats where I'm starting!!
