ICANN is a money whore. I didn't read the article because it's probably filled with crap but ICANN is not the only corporation that deals with TLDs.

Pre-Registration is running for more than 6 weeks now!!!

I have Pre Registered 500 Domains by Now.

Even if only one of these NTLDs make it to come up next year .Shop, .Money, .Phone, . Berlin, . NYC, .Car, .web, .wine i will make some decent cash! ;-)))))))))

Algorythm of Google will change for sure, to get rid of all these crap in the SERPS. All these new NTLDs will help to clear the SERPs. Like .Shop will help a lot to identify commercial intent and to domain branding. In a few years the .Shop will get massive "Tyoe in" Traffic for sure. Customers dont need to think about the TLD like "What was it? Toys.com, Toys.de, Toys.net, Toys org or an other of the 250 gTLDs & ccTlds? NO ITS TOYS.SHOP !!!!

No offence, but I think this is bullshit. Google knows full way that this is going to give spammers a great chance to exploit the serps in a new way. There already worried about people buying up these custom TLD's to manipulate the serps. Don't expect this to make life any easier in ranking.

Read on http://www.icann.org/ whats going on. They will find ways to track Spammers down on the new TLDs. See the "Applicant Guidebook" ;-)))
