Not for this year alone. You should have patience whenever you do SEO.

Sure. Old Traditional Marketing works perfect. You can concentrate quality of content and hi-authority backlinks too. Each links/posts promoted via Social Media (Facebook, Twitter & Google +). Try it Cheers :)
 
There are many google updates, you cant just ask how to do seo for a certain year. However social media is looking strong.
 
Build relevant backlinks
Create PR and distribute it often - sometimes you will get quality links but dont hope to high, most media will put nofollow links
Involved in Social Media like fb, twitter, linkin increase your brand awarenesss
