New site...need help with SEO advice / Rankings

Hi guys,

I have created a new site. Its been online for about 40 days. Ive been doing decent sales through instagram and direct visitors. But really want to start getting ranked.

Im selling shoes (branded sports shoes)

My market is extremely competitive...and most of the main keywords are occupied by million dollar companies with 10+ years and millions of back links etc.

So far I have:

- Purchased lots of back links from BHW users, fiverr etc. My last check i had an AHREF site ranking of 37, 343 external back links that refer to my url, 146 domains that contain at list one back line to my url

- Made my side as SEO friendly as possible

- Done a small Yahoo answers campaign with level 2 and above accounts (about 150 posts)

- Did a small PPC Ad words campaign...My key words were so competitive i ate through my daily budget of $30 in less than an hour haha.


I don't have a huge budget (roughly $300- 500 USD / month) just want to know what i can do which will give me the most bang for my buck. I know it will take time to build and get my self ranked. But what would be the best and most cost effective way to start getting more traffic to my site through search engines?

Ive been researching and i think i should start targeting longer keywords? Like for example: instead of "Adidas Shoes", target "buy cheap adidas shoes online".

I'm pretty new to SEO and would appreciate any advice anyone could give me. What would be the best thing for me to focus on to slowly start growing my rankings and hopefully getting more traffic.

If you were in my place how would you spend a $300 / month budget?

If it's really that competitive on your keywords I'd give up trying to rank on google. A newbie isn't going to beat the big players. Similarly with PPC its unlikely for you to be able to compete against companies you have daily budgets in the millions.

I think you should give up trying to rank on google and focus on social media. Create a twitter profile, facebook page, google+ etc and really work on them to drive traffic. The big companies tend to have less of an advantage in social media.

With PPC I think you should give up on the general keywords like "sports shoes" and look instead for extra relevant, cheap longtail keywords like brand name + shoe type + shoe size.
 
Thanks for the answer...Yeah its gonna be tough to compete with the guys...But I have to start somewhere...Im hoping this website will be a long term business for me...Hopefully with a few years of hard work i will eventually start ranking. Maybe not for the general keywords but long tail keywords.

So you would recommend that i spend my $300 / budget on Adwords targeting long tail specific keywords? Or should I Keep investing in Back Links and other things?
 
Did you purchase any PBN links?

Stay away from Adwords and invest your money in SEO. It will take longer to see results, but the ROI will be much higher. If you must use PPC, use Bing Ads instead (it's cheaper).
 
Well, you're agree and well known about the time to rank in Google.. For your new site invest your $300 in SEO package.. start it in the right way.. The result will take time but it will be much effective and stand for a long time.. In a month you cant get more but if you wait, then for sure you will be the one among the competitors.. If you dint try anything, you will be a newbie till you try.. Throw out the thought of beating your competitor instantly and do it slowly.. you will be behind them one day..

What exactly are PBN links? Can you recommend any reliable BHW sellers?

Your best options are to buy ads in facebook and other social bookmarking networks.
Contact the owners of the big and famous pages and spread the word out.
And do banner advertisement too.
PPC will be very very expensive for you...

PBN = Private Blog Network

Look in the marketplace if you need PBN links. There are many sellers there.

Start focusing on social media sites. They could drive significant sales to your site. Also, I would recommend you to buy some edu and .gov links to get more domain authority to beat the tough competition.
 
Your market is very tough and budget very small, competition very tough so correct choice will be to stay away from adwords or any major big money spending campaigns...

You already getting sales from social media, why not scale up that one before you start experimenting with unknown sector...

Once you feel growth is stagnant then try another resource till then scale current campaign...

1. Spend money on instagram or other social media which can bring you more visitors... facebook ads seems cheaper but only you can find out exact cost... Try other social media sites...
2. invest some money in improving site and adding more content.
3. If possible try to make PBN (1-2 high PR every month)
4. concentrate on long tail keywords...
 
If I were you, I would have hired a content writer, (because my content writing sucks). After hiring him I would post as many as articles I could targeting the long tail keywords. If I have some more money I would have bought the AMR and submit articles targeting my built Web2.0s wheel. This will lead me to some good positions after some work. OR I would have hired a guy and pay him $300 a month to do this job for me and I would have researched for more opportunities.
 
Hey phame,

Your niche is competitive, to get to the first page is not easy with general keywords. Yeah, like you said it, I would target more long tail keywords that includes the brand and make in it. The search volume for these will not be high, but they are very targeted. You can do the same with adwords.

That said, I think instead of boosting your site traffic with organic traffic at this point, you will potentially get more sales by engaging your target customer groups at where they hang out online. Check out forums, social media groups and blogs where people discuss about shoes. If you sell hiking shoes for example, you can also engage mountain hikers at such forums. Try not to come across as selling stuff on forums though, rather engage your readers there and build a rapport with your audiences.

As your site gets more traction with the above, then it'll be easier for your to conduct SEO and rank you webpages.

As you said your keyword is competitive, so I suggest you to start SEO with long term strategy. Don't think about Black hat SEO. It may help you to get ranked in short time but there is always a possibility to get penalized. So start with White Hat SEO.

And if it still hard to rank your site with this method, you can create long tail keyword posts and Do this method to those long taild keyword posts, you should rank them easily :)
 
You're need write more articles with unique text and add them to google's index.
 
Since you have succeeded in creating over 37,000 backlinks in 40 days to your new website,
you have successfully fu**ed up your website SEOwise.

So, if you want to rank, start a new site and as advised above - hire writers to add as much high quality content as you can

Focus on getting your content viral - e.g. - Infographic on all Nike/Adidas models
- content related to shoes but buzzfeed style.

You will have far higher chances of success for generating backlinks this way.

As far as PBN is concerned, you do not seem to have any SEO knowhow,
start reading on it and do not do any SEO on your website yourself for
atleast 6 months (till you are completely comfortable with the concept of PBN)
