New search guidelines from Google!

So this is for October, let's see how quickly they move the goalposts again in November.

https://developers.google.com/search/docs/essentials
Below is an excerpt:

'Use words that people would use to look for your content, and place those words in prominent locations on the page, such as the title and main heading of a page, and other descriptive locations such as alt text and link text.'

Has me thinking, has Google started giving useful SEO tips? This is really impressive but they didn't tell us where we could get these words people would use to look for our content.

I know we already have keywords research tool, I'm expecting what Google would recommend unless they're building one for us, which is less likely.

This stupidity never ends.
Totally agree. Move the goal posts, make their own interpretation of things and think they are being helpful. Then name it the Helpful Content Update...
You can't argue with idiots it seems.

This month G is advising to 'Use words that people would use to look for your content'

Next month they will change their mind and penalize sites in the name of over optimization and keyword stuffing. Nice BIG G:)

As a lot of people say, basically they want everyone to go to paid ads.

It is like a lot of the new guideline’s language doesn't vary all that much from their previous guidelines.

But just like with previous guidelines, you have to read between the lines.

For example, they would say "use words that people would use to look for your content."

Well, that seems straightforward but it's actually very complicated because different people search for the same thing in different ways.

We're all different in how we describe the world because we come from different backgrounds and have different experiences.

While there are a lot of tools that will help you come up with keyword variations, a lot of them are just projections.

In fact, I learned firsthand that some of the biggest paid SEO tools out there can be way off the mark when it comes to traffic predictions for certain keyword combinations.

The bottom line?

I don't think the new guidelines really tell us anything that we don't already know.

Still, I do appreciate the fact that Google is using a more basic vocabulary when trying to communicate with the publisher community.
