I would think so, photoshop has stayed very much the same over the years so all the basic things should be the same, you might want to just watch some youtube tutorials or try it yourself just so you know what it is like now

Normally you are fine, Photoshop didn't change that much in the past years. They just updated the interface styling a bit and added some nice to have features.
What a bunch of rubbish people are posting here.
Photoshop has been updated a lot, and have a bunch of new and great features, not to mention that it runs a lot faster than older versions.
The interface has pretty much stayed the same though (and you can choose to revert to the old interface, if you wish), so there shouldn't really be any issues with starting to use the new version (except learning the new features, of course).

if you are in the IT industry why dont you keep up??? user interface is slightly differ to Photoshop 4 but basics are the same - you be fine mate but just make sure to do a test drive...
I have a really old version of Photoshop on my laptop, and I also have the newest one as well on my PC. If you are good with the old version, you'll be just as fine with the new one. Although I can pretty much do everything on the old one that I can with the new one (although sure there are a lot of new features the newest one provides).

I don't think it will take you more than 2 hours to figure out all the new Photoshop if you are already familiar with the older version of Photoshop. I would recommend you to go with the newer Photoshop versions as they can do much more great work in less sort of time with good effects.

The old tools are same .. There have been new additions but if you're familiar with the older tools you will find them even in CS6 but with more functionalities. As i can say for my experience it takes a little to familiarize with the new stuff and it isn't that hard and of course the newer tools will give you better command over what you wish to achieve
The tools are perfectly the same and still do the same functions. This is one of the finest things i have notices in the structure of the adobe products. They don't do a total revamp they just keep adding new features with time that suit up well even with the original design

That would be no problem for you.. I've been using photoshop from Photoshop 6 to the latest cs6.
There are not much different on interfaces. But I must say it easier and more fun with cs6

To a large extent you are missing the point.
If I was your prospective employer I'd be wanting to know if you could do what I need you to do with PS.
