New Niche site with WP, make pages or posts?

Hi BHW,

I am working on a new niche page right now that is made with wordpress, but I kinda stumbled on a question regarding SEO and ranking on Google.

So, I am making a simple website that contains 2-3 pages with valuable information for the visitor.
But I am not sure whether I should setup these pages as "Pages" or if I should set them up as posts in Wordpress instead.

When I set them up as pages and put them in the main menu on the site, they wont contain a category or tags and such.

Would it be better for me to make the pages into posts instead with categories, tags and such for SEO or would it make no difference in the end?

I have recently started a site and decided to go with pages, they seem to give you more control if you are trying to create a SILO content structure (which I recommend you do, helps with SEO).

What I am doing is basically providing some information that, about 10.000 people are looking for.
(Based on Google search data)

So I have 4-5 different main keywords that I will attempt to rank with.

The information people are looking for is on the front page of my site, but I have chosen to divide a bit of the content to another page to get users to click atleast once to go to another page.

Is it a bad idea to provide all the information on the front page or should I just attempt to put as much information on that single page as possible?

It depends how much content you can write, if you can create a homepage and 5 pages each with 3000 words, then that is good. But if you're going to write extra pages with only a few hundred words each, it would be better to focus on a high quality single page.

you can easily silo with posts and posts are more structured.
I use a few pages and the rest as posts.

Set it up as posts with different headings

I use pages for things like Homepage, about us, contact us etc and then i use posts for blog posts.

I don't think there is one better than the other regarding SEO, at the end of the day they are both just another page on the website however it does depend on what your page template code looks like. I.E is it SEO optimised using headers properly and alt tags etc.

A good use of categories is to have a filter for your blog where as you wouldn't need this for pages.

Ive also found that tags just cause problems, in my case the tag pages weren't quality pages that i would want a potential customer to land on, so i removed the functionality.

Not sure if you have an SEO plugin installed, that may help or be what your looking for, I use Yoast SEO.

if you follow above steps you will get results, also make sure to get your WP indexed with GSC
