New member, wondering where you started?

Hey everyone. Sort of new here. been lurching but not active.
I work at home tech support, and really want to do more then just read people's success stories.
I'm fairly knowing of web design, just not a lot of practice. I want to explore the monetizing aspect of it all.
I could really use a nudge in the right direction, as I've got a lot of creativity and persistence bottled up inside of me.
I love computers, I've built them since I was younger then 10. I've been watching a lot of "the new boston" tutorials on web design and app design and stuff.
what I'm really after, is where this type of income capable hobby derives from within you all.
So, I ask you all in the kindest way. share with me how you got started monetizing.

Is there a sticky or something will all of the lingo and abreviations? lol You guys are loosing me quickly in these write-ups. I mostly build and drift my car. sort of took a step back from technology for a while. BUT, the internet is the smartest way to make a profit. and I'm 20 years old, and tired of being hungry.
