Hi everyone, I have been a long time reader of this forum, and have finally decided to register and be a part of it. I would like to be an active member here, and wanted to wait until I had some knowledge which I could share with other people and hopefully benefit them. Of course I am also looking to learn as much as I can, if you take the time to look through the forum there is so much helpful information here. I know that a lot of people get annoyed with new members not taking the time to look for things here, so I will do my best and try and find things before asking questions.

OK, so a little bit about me, what I can bring to the forum, and what I do for a living on the internet. I am not an IMer per se, but due to the work I am now doing, I am slowly getting drawn into some aspects of the IM world.

SKILLS:

First and foremost I am a full time Etsy administrator and I own a successful Etsy shop. I help clients with all aspects of setting up and running Etsy shops, and have built a decent amount of knowledge in this area which people do benefit from. I have learnt many things about Etsy which a lot of people don't know; none of the information is secret, but you really have to hunt for it, and then more importantly understand it.

My clients include/have included: bakery shops, jewelers, t-shirt sellers, wedding accessories, concrete products, resume/CV shops, artists, dressmakers to name but a few. As long as an Etsy customer wants to buy your product, the techniques used to make the shop successful are 90% the same. Etsy is an amazing marketplace is you know how to work the platform.

This is the main skill I bring to the table, and if anyone has something they would like to ask, feel free and I will answer.

I also have my own website, and sell the same products as I do in my Etsy shop, but this is a totally different ball game. I am learning about SEO, and have started to rank some of my products with keywords I have chosen. I have not sold anything yet on my website, but have only been putting serious time into the SEO for two weeks, I am fully aware it is a long game using white hat methods.

I largely ignore google and Keyword Planner, sure I use it for ideas, but I found that I have started to get traffic to my site using keywords that google KWP said no one searched for. I knew this was BS based on my Etsy stats where I could see plenty of people searching for my KW there. I don't know what others think of this, but it is working for me so far.

I also manage social media accounts for my clients (a really good consistent earner of small monthly income), I use Massplanner for this. Literally, there are so many people opening web shops who want to grow their SM accounts and are willing to pay for someone to do it for them, so I jumped on this opportunity that Massplanner allows me to do. I am in NO way an expert with Massplanner, but I am making money with it so that is good enough for me.

I also am running some Adwords campaigns for two of my clients, this in itself is a huge learning curve, but slowly I am starting to understand how it works. I am always looking to learn more about how to bring traffic to my clients websites, which is one of the main reasons people are here on BHW, I am no different.

I also own a small B+M store and sell products there as well, it is seasonal but provides an income.

I used to work in investment banks in London, extremely lucrative, but it literally destroys your soul, so I sold everything, left England and now have a new life supporting my family doing something I really enjoy.

I wanted to post a link to a great article about an ecommerce start up, to give something I thought was an interesting read to people, but it seems I cannot do this yet, so I will post the link when I am able.

I hope to be a valuable member of the forum, and as I mentioned if people want to know something then feel free to ask, if I can help I will.

Thanks for reading this long introductory post!
