New links not appearing in search console

Over the past few months I have been getting lots of backlinks from guest posts. Whenever I check links for the target pages in Google search console, they aren't showing up. The list looks pretty stale.

I have verified that all of the pages are indexed on Google, so the links has definitely been discovered. Could it be that sites I'm getting links from have an outbound link penalties and the links are worthless or is GSC just very bad at showing you the backlinks?

GSC never shows all of your backlinks (as a matter of fact no SEO tools do). I also don't think that all of the sites you've gotten backlinks from are having penalties. The chances for ALL of them having penalties is very small. And if the links are already in google... well, that's all that matters.

I'd try sending some social signals to all of those links if I were you. Not sure how much this will help, but if you see movement on some of the links after bombarding them with social signals (tweets, facebook shares, pins, etc.) you will know that the links are ok and it's just google being slow in showing the links (which I wouldn't be surprised about since they've been having indexing issues since december as I've read on some threads).

Also, did you check your rankings after acquiring the guest post backlinks? If you've seen improvement the backlinks are doing their job and you should not stress about GSC too much. If no URL has ever moved from its position after getting those backlinks there's definitely something fishy going on somewhere (I still don't know where, though).

Lastly, does AHREFS pick any of those backlinks? Just curious...

SEO tools are picking up the links correctly and are not detecting any issues in terms of nofollow, domain health issues. The authority of the domains linking back seems good. I am not seeing a change in ranking or seeing the domains show up in GSC which has me suspicious of things.

I'm at a loss then. Sorry, I really can't figure out what's wrong

GSC 'discounts' a portion of your links when it comes to visibility. Always has.

But this doesn't mean those links don't have an effect.

GSC is not good option for this thats true..
