New laptop

Have been using a trusty old Dell Inspiron 1525 for the past 4 years...got me through a phd and into seo...I'm outgrowing it lately and decided to buy something new and a bit more powerful, though I don't need anything massive.

Anyway, I was reading reviews for the last week or so, trying to make up my mind, and I saw a number of people talking about Lenovo. Long story short, I bought a ThinkPad T530, i7 processor, 8GB memory, 1Tb hard drive, and WINDOWS 7! :-)

Anyway, not going to raise any eyebrows with those stats, but I wondered if anyone here uses Lenovo. What do you think of them? I might've gone with an Apple, but while I love my iPads and iPod Touch, their laptops just seem overpriced and aren't terribly seo software friendly from what I've heard.

Don't go with apple, they are just terrible. Not sure about lenovo, never owned one but good brands for laptops can be ASUS or Samsung. Maybe Alienware, but they're a tad bit overpriced. If you want to customize your own, i recommend going to ibuypower. Just google them.

Thanks...I looked at alienware, which are also expensive and seem geared toward gamers; perhaps I'm mistaken on that last point. Lenovo seems to have two lines...Ideapad and Thinkpad, with Thinkpad being the higher-range...apparently it is an IBM product. I'm glad to have a decent processor and sufficient memory, but the Windows 7 OS sealed the deal.
 
I run on a MacBook Pro 17" running VMWare Fusion and Windows 7. I run a bunch of SEO software on it with no problem.
 
Lenovo, an IBM company, is one of the better consumer laptops on the market today. When you work on them daily you quickly see the difference in quality. Lenovo typically has a metal frame and not just all plastic like most Dells, Acers, HP, and other retail models. Lenovo is a business class laptop made for transporting and while it's not a Panasonic Toughbook it's will take a lot of banging around.

At our store we still sell IBM T41, T42, T43, T60 and other really old models that are off-lease units. Some of them look like brand new almost; you'll never find a Big Box retail laptop 10 years old that looks like new unless nobody used it. The keys all wear off in a year or two, the cases warp from heat, the jacks are lucky if they still solidly connect to a charger. Just cheap throw-away laptops for the most part.

You picked a winner IMO.
 
+1 for the MacBook... or iMac... or Mac Mini. Really, the OS X software is just so much more intuitive (at least for what I do).

Lenovo makes good computers too. If I were buying a PC, I'd buy Lenovo or Sony.
 
just picked up another macbook air the other day, oh nooooo -- its great :)
 
Looking to get the Lenovo Thinkpad X1 carbon touch Ultrabook soon.
 
You must go with Macbook Pro :) You will love it. As it increases your value among friends too after all it's an Apple Product Dude! :)
 
I got a used i5 macbook air and installed windows bootcamp on there and couldn't be happier. I can boot into windows 7 or OS X. The i5 has been plenty fast for me. Never thought my favorite windows machine would be a mac!
 
I have the new macbook air, and it's pretty affordable.
Long battery life (12hours) and to recharge it only takes less than 2 hours.
It's fast too though I'd have to check how powerful it is (haven't downloaded programs yet!)
 
You made a good choice, with lenovo you're paying for the parts. With apple and alienware you're paying for the name.
