Guys,
I have a new baby!! I'm 34, doing IM for a few years now (making a living of it, trying at least).
I guess I'll have less hours to IM now, I usually sleep 8 hours a night and I guess that's gone now :-)

Any tips from new parents?

Congrats on the new baby, I have a ton of them...... No, seriously, I have enough offspring to populate a small country..... :D

Use a condom next time.

That's a fucked up thing to say, IMO. What if he wanted to start a family?

To OP: Congrats. My son was born almost three years ago now. I will tell you that there are some rough patches you will hit, but when you look into the eyes of your son/daughter, everything is worth it. I was blessed in that my fiance always took care of the baby, and I did so when I wanted to, was never forced to. I love being an involved father however, so I took as many chances as I got.

So my advice is, love your child, and do everything you can for him/her. Everything will fall into place naturally. You'll see!

Again, congratulations!

Yes, everything will be different as you will come to see. Always in a good way even if it doesn't seem like it at first. As for advice...get sleep whenever and wherever you can as you probably will be lacking in sleep for about 2 months. :)

Oh, and Congratulations! Big changes but wonderful rewards!

Mate, it was a joke.
I can't wait to be a better father, than my father was.

Congrats! I hope this turns into an epic thread overflowing with good advice. Here's mine, gleaned from my experience with five sons:

No one can teach you how to love and care for our child as much as your child can. You're going to seek advice and read books and make decisions about your parenting style now but as your child grows s/he might not fit into your preconceived notions. Be flexible on stylistic differences but firm on what shapes his/her character.

Also, you can still get eight hours of sleep. Babies have been kept in the dark for nine months often with their sleep cycles reversed; you've got to help them set their sleep cycle by the sun. Spend time outside during the day and don't have bright lights on at night. They'll still wake up in the first few months because they're hungry but they won't stay up.

You'll need one of these:

Congratulations! You're a father now! That should keep your motivation and IM success up!

^^This...wise words!

make sure the kid eats healthy from day one. my brother has two morbidly obese kids because he didn't take this advice from me and now it's too late. good diet, exercise, and you'll have done them a favor for life. once the kid is 15 or 18 it's probably too late.

Thanks guys!!
It's so great that I don't have a day job (I do go to work 1-2 days of the week but not 5 days a week)
that gives me time to be home and also to go online and work whenever I have the time.
I do lack sleep, I was used to sleep at least 7 hours a day and smoke some weed on 2-3 nights a week,
but I don't feel comfortable to do this now.

I did get 30 minutes of battlefield yesterday and that was nice :-)
Anyway, there is so much work on my websites that is left behind that I hope to catch up in the next few weeks.

Thank god (or whoever) for the Internet so that I can go online and wonder around the web anytime I want, I really don't know what I'd do without it.

Tips from dad of three year old triplets...

It gets easier. At about 13 pounds (6kg) they start to sleep thru the night.

You'll be tempted to want to get a million things done when he or she naps mid day...don't overdo it...you may actually want to lie down and recharge yourself during that time.

Everything you own or value will be destroyed. Be okay with that.

Don't be the dad who is always sitting by his computer or checking his phone. Get on the floor and play with your kids. You're gonna miss this.

Leave time for at least fifteen minutes or more a day for you to workout. You need to eat right as well or you will get smoked and tired. A Vitamix blender was the best thing I ever bought. Quick, easy nutrition.

That's all I got for now. Time to go play with the triplets.

Firstly, congrats, your life will never be the same. I'm a single father with sole custody of my son since he was 5 months old (he'll be two on 9/9 :) ) and it is very hard to jungle work and regular life but you will find the sweet spot, it just takes time. Just be thankful that you have a spouse to help you out! I made a play area in my office for him while I am working after the nanny leaves. Just remember your new child is a serious gift that many people desire to have but are not physically capable of producing. Be the parent yours never were and always put your child first (remembering of course that you have to keep a roof over your head and food in your stomachs). Oh and Huggies Pure and Natural Diapers are seriously worth the extra money - 2 diaper rashes in 2 years is proof.

You can take all the advice in the world....but it will come naturally to you. When they are babies they can sleep all night but as a daddy you will get stressed that you havent heard any noise....I used to sit and watch my daughter all night to make sure she was breathing.

Its a gig for life theres no cut off point where it gets easy every year brings different challenges but once they can talk a bit and are not so fragile then I think you are in a better place.

Don't give your child vaccines. If you did already then don't ever again.

Have the child breast feed for awhile. It's a lot more important than everyone thinks.

Don't give your baby cows milk or gluten for awhile at least - can fuck up the brain especially a baby's

Get him a food allergy test (you should too)

Soy is crap - especially soy formulas

Keep in mind that almost all regular doctors don't know shit about real nutrition

You and your baby should avoid fluoride in toothpaste and water - it's a poison and only toothpastes (fuck you CREST/COLGATE) with fluoride in them have a poison warning on them...

Have him learn a second language early - there's an age (pre-teens?) that past that age you can never learn a second language as well ever again.

Do whatever you can to stay out of public, mind limiting brainwashing institutions (public school)

Keep the baby's crib/bed away from electrical outlets to reduce possibly harmful EMFs

I don't have a kid but that's what I'd do.
Just my opinions off the top of my head

Just to add:

Make a tinfoil hat and keep it on regularly
Never use a cellphone within 300m of the baby
Ditch any wireless things
Make sure it knows how to use a radiation detector and to find the nearest bunker by the age of 6
Teach it to hunt by 8

[/sarcasm]

Vaccines are fine. Without vaccines your kid is much more likely to get screwed by viruses.
Milk dont know
Doctors know more about nutrition than you probably do, even with googling.
Agreed on fluoride. Studies have shown that it screws with parts of the brain and bones.
If going with a second language, I'd opt for Chinese or Russian.
Do keep out of public school. It doesn't do shit now except for socializing. With the proper tools you can do better home schooling.
EMF is bs.
