New Innovations?

So, even though I'm a newb on here, I've been doing "web stuff" since I started my web design company in 1997 when the dotcom boom was growing.
I'm way past that now but had been reflecting lately on how there really doesn't seem to be many new innovations lately.
It seems like the last "big" innovation was blockchain.

Sure, there are new frameworks being developed, but it seems like the only interests people have lately is making the next Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.
Or, they are just trying to make money by selling on Amazon, eBay, Shopify, Etsy....

It just seems like people aren't innovating anymore.
Maybe it's the INTP in me talking,...or, it's the Vodka I've been consuming today.

Just blabbing if anyone wants to chime in their thoughts.

Elon musk certainly is striving to take innovation to the next level.

I think that machine learning and neural networks are pretty good stuff as well. All tech started crappy(think old TVs or first mobile phones), AI will evolve in the upcoming years.

I disagree -- people are innovating. Have you heard of TikTok?

In all seriousness, people with different backgrounds will tell you how their given industries and fields of work are chaning. Personally, I'm interested in NLP applications, so here's an innovation that caught my eye: GPT-3, a language model that was trained on immense volumes of data. This has enabled GPT-3 to produce coherent texts, plus a lot of other cool stuff.

Personally I would call tiktok as a step back but okay...

I can agree to that. But I also agree that Elong Musk is...well, Elon Musk.
He started internet companies that pushed the internet forward (PayPal for example).

RK is actually a good example.
The adult internet has done more for innovating and pioneering what we see on the internet today.

Just innovation

Yeah, I somewhat agree with you. Sure, AI, blockchains, some level of driving automation, and space exploration are great and all. But I have a strong feeling that there is another side to technology that is hindering our progress. Precisely speaking, all the tech stuff is dumbing us down, making us lazy and preoccupied with the unimportant.
