New here, getting back into SEO and could use a little update on stuff

So ten years ago I made my site all perfect and happy for SEO and google.

Today my customers are telling me I don't even show up for my own search term and I go look see and google has me at a page rank of 2.... so even though my .com is the only thing for that keyword, people talking about my website on reddit show up and not my actual website.

Anyone willing to help an old hat get back into the game so I can at least rank on google, we can swap some storys and info on SEO tricks from past to present, maybe even teach each other a few things.

But bottom line is I know a lot from ten years ago and just really need a quick meat an potatoes on what is currently needed for white hat seo ranking.

We can go into things that will make money after we fix that problem ya? : )

This is probably happening because of the last Google search update, wait sometime and check if you get your rankings back.
If not, check if your site was penalized for something.
If everything is fine with your site maybe your content is outdated, and you need to start to update the content on your site or build more backlinks.

Ok, how does content get outdated, the site is ten years old but the research at this point is done
1+1=2, their is not update to that.

So can you define "updated"

Also google has reduced my google rank from 8 to 2 so ya, going to have to clean up back links and get a few health back links.

Do we know what they are looking for in regards to a high trusted ranked site?

How do I check to see if it was penalized? I am actually making a google merch account for the first time as I was apart of the stuff they had from ten years ago and THAT may also be the problem.

Would back links from youtube,vimneo,rumble and the like be a good idea? What sort of places should I put back links to to try and fix this? 3 days of not being listed on the internet under your own .com long tail search keyword is bs : /

updated means that new information is shared around the topic since you published the post, so you go over these old posts and read all the information and update the posts if the content is outdated
 
you've been living off this .com for 10 years without doing anything to it? all seo traffic? not bad
 
just remember one thing, someone told me here that i'll never forget "google likes it dirty"

Then google changed stuff so I am trying to fix it, to have a google page rank of 7+ which should not be hard to do - I just need to learn the basics again (from you lot) or do it all myself.

If you want secrets, I want some common know how. : )
