I have a site that appeared to survive this week's carnage. It even moved up about 20 positions for a very competitive phrase while everyone else was getting clobbered (almost hit page one). Yesterday afternoon it dropped about 50 positions. It could be a delayed slap but hopefully it's just in flux. I don't have WM tools and don't plan on signing up to check for a penalty message.

Yeapz faced similar problems.With my personal experiments,I feel like they are targeting majorly the MNS's this time.Lets wait for awhile..

This happened to me: Some of the shorter-tail keywords dropped but I seem to be getting more traffic with some extremely long-tail ones I did not even know I could rank for. How bizzare is that!

Yep happened here, drops on all keywords. From position 2 down to 12 for my top keyword.

Please let this be another google mistake

Update Started few Hours ago in FEW DCs. Noticing more than 10 penalized domains (-500, -600 ) in top 100.

Lets wait n see.

wow. one of kws with biggest competition went from 7 to 3 without any linkbuilding. however the site has daily updates and most of others were just mfa and micronichesites

No change for randomly 10 of my sites. But I stopped doing manual comments, guestposts of high quality, lots of web 2.0s to the site in 3-4 tier pyramids and other SB blasts a while ago now, so I'm not going down. But they can't get up since I was doing it...

All I can contribute at the moment is the sites I have done least backlinking to seem to have not been affected negatively, if I find anything more I will post it but I can't help feeling we are missing something damned obvious

Google cleared out a lot of the deindexed sites from blog networks last night, that's the only thing I can think of could have caused it.
Absolutely none of my medium/high comp support sites where hit, only my ultra competitive sites were.
I also noticed a 700 link decrease in google webmaster last night...

I have been seeing this shit on many of my site ( most KWs) since the end of march. Bouncing like crazy, never seen anything like this before. Either Google is fucking up or fucking with us.

Nothing is wrong with google. They're simply penalizing sites that have done a lot of link building from web 2.0, blog comments, etc. That's why you're seeing crappy sites with no links rank better than good sites with lots of links.
