New Google Update January 2020

I am very pleased that this update only got me better rankings for my site. I hope it keeps increasing :)

So I've been struggling with the difference between the recommendations on BHW and the recommendations on Google. Google's basically stated you will be flagged and de-ranked for most of the stuff we're doing on BHW in their new TOS.

Is this something new, or has this been happening for ages?

That's why it's called Black Hat World.

sites only about three months old. When the update hit my traffic increase (went from about 0 visitors to 1 - 2) now almost all of my pages have been de-indexed and now google is indexing random pages on it. No link building at all high-quality handwritten articles..... im fucken confused
site still mostly de-indexed no new pages indexed. Getting a little paranoid

Most people are reporting an increase in sales, even though there is a strong decrease in traffic. Somehow Google has dialed in Intent and is sending domains people that are interested in buying...

On the 13th of January 2020, Google announces the roll-out of its first broad core algorithm update of 2020. Over the coming days, the Google January 2020 Core Update is rolled out to Google's data centers. Google continues to pursue its transparent communication policy for core updates, which started in 2019

Last few months... spent on improving old posts and on-page seo. Seeing a good improvement for a few main KWs.
Hard works paying!

Has anyone seen this affect their GMB snack-pack results? Very curious, as there is nothing out there suggesting so. Though on my end I saw over 10 businesses dropping on GMB anywhere fro pos 1-3 to pos 7-40+

Any input from your end, would be appreciated.

Google confirmed that a broad core algorithm update, simply titled the 'January 2020 Core Update' is rolling out today. Being a broad core update, the January 2020 core update will impact all search results on a worldwide scale.

Being in a local, niche related service business...

Everytime BHW starts an "SEO algo update thread" I check rankings, BOOM - Increase! It's about time the hard work, QUALITY links, on page optimization, and well designed articles pay off.

Going from #3 to #1 on several MAIN keywords, with 130% increase in traffic is pure bliss.

My tips, stay away from cheap links. Go for NICHE related and high quality.

I think above all else google is getting smarter everyday regarding articles. First thing I would do is make 100% sure your content is not spun or poor quality.

I just can't trust what a snail called Clive says I'm sorry...

Clive the snail is right! Quality over quantity, think sky-scraper length content, with no waffle.

The latest Google update is that the Zero Position result (Snipshot) will be now counted as number 1 rank on SERP. And the snipshot result will not be displayed second time on SERP :)

I noticed a trend - the first 3-6 months Google doesn’t see the site at all and then the impressions begin.
Different niches, different areas, different topics. Previously, I created a site - filled it with news, after 2-3 weeks you are already in the search and go traffic.
Now everything is sad.
Purchased links - into the void. Do not play a role.

Strange..I'm not seeing any of this. Minor fluctuations, but nothing outside the norm. I'll keep an eye on it.

One thing I have noticed is, Google is getting really good at geo-targeted keywords. Matching websites locations to specific local queries. Small observation, but many of my local sites saw huge upticks in their rankings for hyper local keywords.
