Even I don't care about this shit anymore, I mentioned here because user's observation and their comments may help others.
 
If you are following Google's guidelines and not following some shady technique to get backlinks or anything then you are okay...
Don't bother with this sht
 
Then why medium.com got hit in December, it doesn't matter no website is steady at some point every website get hit.

I noticed my rankings are disappearing, this must be the reason.
 
Something hit my site too , been figuring what causes it , serp dancing up and down , mind sharing what google update this time ?

You think so? I have white hat websites and black hat websites. White hat ones are the most affected either up or down when an update is made (weekly).

then may be what you think white hat is actually not according to what google think is good :)
 
My site got hit and all the money pages are on page4-5 and some are even out of the serps. Haven't use any pbn only some guest post, diversity links etc. Hope this change is temp
 
these updates will just keep on coming, make sure to make it look as white hat as possible.

I aint saying like follow them strictly, just guess what is good from the guidelines and find loopholes to help your project.
