That is really not a good idea as although a subject may have been brought up, there are a lot of ancillary aspects that could also be brought up in different threads and stopping that, or hindering those that want to post about that subject, could cause many to not get the information they {want|need}.

But it is not compulsory. It just shows suggestions, does not stop the creator from creating the thread. I think purpose is to avoid thread on same topic.

Edit: I think you missed the part that it is already implemented.

Oftentimes a suggestion stops a person from asking or sharing and we do not want to do that if they are legitimately sharing or asking a question.

No sense putting a speed bump in the road when there is no need for a speed bump.

Please read the edit. It looks like it is implemented. Is it by mistake again?

Edit: I noticed this feature once more in past but at that time DD clarified that it was activated by mistake and got sneak peak of a feature that is meant for future. Today I noticed it again, so I thought it is live now.

100% agree with this, the more information / different threads about a topic the better.

I Don't think it will be a good feature.

I think this defeats the point of a forum. You don't want one thread per topic. Unlikely to happen - answered and closed.
