Has this been discussed already? IG is introducing a new feature in settings to show you how much time you have spent on the app and give you the ability to mute all notifications for a time period.

My devious mind wants to think that IG has some ulterior motive for this:

“We want the time people spend on Facebook and Instagram to be intentional, positive and inspiring. Our hope is that these tools give people more control over the time they spend on our platforms." - IG

^ sounds like corporate BS. I don't see how this will make them money, or convince advertisers that their ads will be more profitable. But maybe thats why I am a rat looking for crumbs and not head of IG. right now lmao.

I think it's a good thing. It's nice to see the statistic.

I haven't thought much into it. I don't think this will change the time people spend on IG/FB. Perhaps this feature breaks down Apple's security a bit and allows them monitor us more, which would equal more money.

Lots of services are implementing that nowadays (i think google and apple did something similar recently) as people become more aware of smartphone addiction. Theres more and more apps to monitor your time spent on certain apps that also support the features instagram wants to add now. So by implementing it themselves they just keep people from using 3rd party apps for it and more importantly, they look like the good guys. So yes, corporate bullshit indeed.

idk how to feel about this. i am sure it looks bad when u are on for 12-14 hours a day with the bot .

Im hoping they have different concerns based on if you are a buisness or not

I like it, shows me how much time I'm wasting on Instagram. Wish these forums had it.

Agree Instagram and Facebook already know everything about you.

I think it's just a feature so users can know to take a break. I believe this setting can be turned off and I don't think it will affect botting. IG already knows you're on 20 hours a day, now they're just telling you they know. Besides back in the early 2000s, I would play a MMORPG and they would always send me reminders... You have been playing for (x) hours, you should take a break. It's just a friendly reminder so in the eyes of the public they look like angels but we all know they don't care
