It’s not often we get two updates from Google in one day about the Search experience. But, that happened yesterday, and at least one of the updates is sure to make site owners happy. Here’s a breakdown of what Google announced:

Search gets conversational. Over the past year, Google has been rolling out updates to help improve their search engine’s understanding of context. In a recent blog post, the company explains how Search is better at understanding what searchers are looking for – and what it means this holiday season.

Crawl data is getting a big upgrade in Google Search Console (yeah, this is the one site owners and SEOs should be happy about). In an announcement on their developers blog, Google outlines new crawl statistics for your site. You’ll now be able to see grouped crawl data, more detailed error reports, and more.

Keep an eye out for more updates like the second one above from Google. With the addition of better language processing models, Search is continually getting better at understanding context and intent – meaning the quality of your content is more important now than ever.

Thank you for the updates.

Google has been improving its semantic capabilities to understand natural language (NLP, a subset of AI) since its 2012 hummingbird update. All that work has now resulted in Google understanding semantics in a very advanced way to answer voice search queries.

This is a welcome move. Google search engine has improved a lot since the last few years on understanding the search intent.
The second one regarding crawl stats is great too. I checked it on the day of release itself and it is definitely a lot of information in the GSC!
