Hi,

So i am starting a new ecommerce website over the next month - products loaded shopping cart in place etc but i would like to get some opinions on how exactly you would go about the SEO for this site - i dont claim to be an expert but i have been here long enough to pick up some tips and tricks - but to help me along i would like to ask you experts who have been doing this far longer than i have just how would you go about the SEO for the site?

Thanks

I would do guest blogging and write "helpful" articles and submit them to web 2.0 s. stay away from blackhat in the beginning.

eCommerce shouldn't be any different from anything else. Get your onpage SEO to 100%, then work on backlinks, etc.

But the benefit you have is supplementing with PPC in the interim.

Find your keywords, create categories around them, rank those category pages

as i thought then, thank you for your help, demon i have PMed

Depending on the amount of products you have I would recommend using long tail and short tail keywords for each specific product, in the description of the product u can use these keywords in the content. Ideally if u can get ranked in top spots for multiple products then you should be able to get some decent traffic to ur site....The initial keyword research is essential as well as on page SEO.....

I think you should write blogs for your site having high good quality content for your blog posts and start link building through blog commenting, social bookmarking, directosy submission as well as join forums and participate here which gives backlinks to your site and your sites gets traffic from here.
