New Domain - Tipps?

What are your experience with new domains?
I've got a new domain for 3 weeks and i don't want to get sandboxed... so now i've build satelite sites and no comment spam directly on the main site. Then i created some entries in good web catalogs and bookmarks. Is this the right way?

Maybe someone can give me some tipps what i must attend on the way to #1 on google. The competition is not so easy but also not to hard.

Should i do only post on blogs which is nearly on my topic? And all other blogs linkin on my satelite sites?
