New Domain Extensions... thoughts?

ok, so as you all know, these new extensions are about to become available or might be available in some places already, but the question is whether they are worth it buying and if google will look to the extension for keyword ranking...

.BIKE, .CAMERA, .CLOTHING, .EQUIPMENT, .ESTATE, .GALLERY, .GRAPHICS, .GURU, .HOLDINGS, .LIGHTING, .PHOTOGRAPHY, .PLUMBING, .SINGLES, .VENTURES, .TATTOO, .SEXY, .MENU, and .UNO

thoughts? I feel the web is turning into real garbage these days... whats next? .TOMATOES?

yeah, crazy right? what were they thinking... registrars just want more money seems
 
They just want to squeeze more money out of people.

Many other pretenders will come and go but once the dust settles... there's only one .com.
 
For vanity use they're awesome, but other than that worth nothing. Most likely I will grab some for giggles, but dotcom will always prevail as winner. Always.
 
In my opinion the domain extensions are becoming a mess! Before you know it we'll have 500+ unique domain extensions which in my opinion is too over the top. They should stick with what's currently available and keep it at that. Why change what's already working?

I think they will be good throwaway domains. Lets see how google treats them, I don't want to be semi penalized because i have one of these extensions.

Next: .takeyourdogforawalk .... all this are crap. But I've heard .game is soon to come, that might have some value.
 
The new domains are just another way for ICANN and registrars to make more money. I would focus on the "premium" extensions.
 
.sexy might prove useful. But it just "might", depends on search engines and how much they like them.
 
ICANN is so inept.

Domains are already so weird in countries like Australia and other places with .com.xx

If they add .photography, are the country codes also added? How long until URLs become too complicated to remember and type in?

Either domain squatting is becoming so widespread they need to pull silly moves like these, or they're running out of ideas.
 
I think extensions should die. Just let it be a free system where all TLD's are available....why have this locked up system with .com or .net? Those are just made up words from decades ago..and except for EDU and MIL or GOV, most tld's are totally unrelated to their purpose....

I feel .com is dead and all others are too, generic words should simply be allowed already, let supply and demand take care of the pricing.

Besides national sovereignty over their internetwebs(which makes sense, i guess, with sever location), I honestly have no idea like you why the system isn't open and people can't register bana.nas or toiletp.aper or whatever.

As for pricing, why are there different prices on open registry? If supply and demand for regfee domains took hold, though, they'd be prohibitively expensive, but the silly hierarchy of domain tld value creates a strange market and rewards squatters. the whole system's a mess.

I also don't like .net taking a backseat to .com, but that's just personal issues. .org is like a hippy, i see .orgs with long beards and smelly armpits.

On a serious note, as a graphic designer i do like .graphics . Im definitely reserving a .graphics domain.
But i can see how some of these can be beneficial for businesses in those niches, i wonder who will be the one to get SEO.GURU???

Some dickwipe who opens threads such as "HELP! My client needs SEO done and hired me because I sucked his balls!"
He'll buy the domain.
