NEW Direct Message Feature on Instagram

Instagram released a new DM feature that allows much more engagement between users.

Let's discuss here some ideas to grab this marketing opportunity!

My first idea: build a bot that scrapes pictures with determined hashtags and then send a DM with the same pic to the author of the pic; and in the subtitle we can type our marketing proposal related with that picture, of course. Could this strategy target thousands of users?

I made a throwaway art account the other day, and on my first three posts received 3 separate DMs from people selling followers. All members of the group were art related pages. Looks like someone beat you to it.

Good to know that! This is a positive sign that this strategy can bring good results. But you were already following those accts who sent you the DM?

No the DM was completely random. I was not following the account who sent the DM or any members of the group. All group members had recently posted with the same / similar hashtags as the ones I used. The DM went into message requests, and when I checked only 2 of the other group members had allowed/seen the DM. If I find the bot I'll update.
