New Blog Post VS Editing Old Post

Hi BHW fam,

If I have already covered a topic in a blog post but it did not perform well, is it better to make a completly new blog post with better content or to edit the content on the post I already have?

If you have links to this page and or keywords ranked, carefully edit the content

Sure I said carefully in case you have keywords that already rank.
Because changing/ adding some related terms and text can push your ranking yes but if done incorrectly it can also make you drop.

Another question you may be able to help me out with, how long should I be waiting before checking the performance of a certain page/post before deciding if it is performing bad and I should make changes in the content?

There is no predefined time, it can be 2 days or 2 months, it is all about your site authority, link profile, topical authority, internal linking, site age...
To see how a particular kw doing for your niche and site check your other similar keywords in terms of competition and volume it will give you some clues.

I'll prefer new blog post instead of editing old one.
