New Amazon Site - SERP Check Request

Hi,

So I'm new to the Amazon affiliate site building concept. I found a keyword with plenty of products on Amazon and on Ahrefs the KW difficulty is really low, like 2 or something.

But here's the thing, the first page is dominated by amazon, wallmart, costco, office depot and staples.

Yes these are sub pages with very little backlinks pointing to them but these are huge sites, do I have any chance of competing for first page for my target keyword ?

Any feedback form experienced Amazon site building ninjas would be most appreciated.

Back to your question. I personally shy away from keywords that are dominated by the big players. That was before though.
Now, i have tried it a couple of time and they can be easily outrank. Unless the KW does not has Best+ Review+ thing inside.

If you want to test it out first. Since the KW has a difficulty of 2 (doubt it though), you can build a web2.0 blast it and see where it will be in 1 to 2 weeks time.

When I am looking at the serps, i tend to stay away from KW that are only dominated with big players. However, if I see a niche site that is up there as well, I consider going after it and dig a little deeper into what it may take to rank that KW against those sites.

So, my site which would have "best" and review" modifiers might fit in between the product focused websites? Google might want to put a site like this near the top?

When researching a niche, you would want to see whether there are any affiliate sites in the top 10 - or at least the top 20. If there are no affiliate sites in the top 20, that's not a good sign.

Google does not rank affiliate sites for some keywords.

And a low keyword difficulty score is no guarantee that you will be able to rank in the top 3 easily.

If Google thinks a certain site is very relevant to a particular search phrase, it will rank it at the top although it may have very few external backlinks.
