New Amazon Affiliate Journey: Need to get going

Alright,

I posted a half assed journey that I stopped posting on not too long ago but I still am working on the website. It's a low priority. I'll keep the site up and let the domain simmer but I can't see it being anything I want to keep doing much more work on. It was something I completely rushed into and I don't regret it however. It got me started. It also told me what I needed to do better. And it still has potential. So I'm not giving up on it entirely. I wouldn't even recommend looking for it to see how awful it was.


I'm one that prefers to start over instead of fixing things. It's just easier imo.
So here's to starting new.

After what feels like endless hours of sifting through niches and testing keywords, I found one that looks promising. I'm interested in it and it seems "easy" to do well in.
I put a spin on it and I'm coming at it from a different angle with a few long tails, which gives me a bit of confidence.


I need to decide if I want to make this an authority or split it out through MNS, which I'll decide after I finish KW research.

Found this niche after writing down interests, and forgot about it, looked through everything on CB. Couldn't see anything I felt I could promote. Came back to interests after letting three niches go and I'm feeling good about it. It's a hobby so I can see myself writing on it and it's something I have done.

Right now letting a tool I found here churn out some long tail keywords. I'm going to then run those through Keyword Planner, check searches and keep the ones between 100k - 1k searches, then I'm going to check them on Moz for Competition and see which ones are between 25-50% difficulty. Then I'll use moz toolbar while manually search each keyword.



Traffic is going to come from:
Forum Posting
Craigslist
Reddit / Social
hopefully from organic search.
I'm going to have a squeeze page set up that will offer a free ebook/discounts and collect emails aswell. Something I haven't done before. I want most to be done before my trials run out, so by the end of the month essentially.

I'm leaning more towards Authority because I feel like managing more than a few sites will be a hassle and I don't want to keep spending money for domains & hosting. Also, I have so many ideas of where I can branch this into and how to promote it.






But searching for a niche has been the most stressful thing I've done and I'm ready to just start going, even if it means rushing something else. I feel pretty good though and I think I'm doing things right so far.

Bought a domain, it's an EMD. Excited for it.


Going to start tomorrow.


I am on the edge of burning out. Beyond happy that I'm "done" picking my niche. Now I'm going to build my statue.

Looking for a theme. If i do more tonight it'll be pick a theme, and start researching competitors sites for articles. Also need to find one review site I was going to mimick.


I could see this site branching out into an authority, but I feel i'll get a new domain if I do I'll get a new hosting server and use this to link to it as a T1.
Also, found an email scraping bot in here. I have scrapebox but now I also have this.. I have a few ideas in mind.

Picked out a theme from here in the forum, set the fonts and laid out how I'm going to structure the site.
I organized most of my keywords, and enough so to get started for now. Have enough to come back it later. Started on my first article for the site.
Taking a few site's articles and essentially spinning them while I research how to sound smart in this niche. Can't be an expert on everything.

Alright, have two posts up on the site with one pending for a few days out so it's not all on one day. Going to drip the rest as I add them over a month or two. Have a few more almost done and really figured out how to stretch my content as far as it can go. Meaning splicing up posts so instead of one or two long ones it will be multiple shorter 400-900 word posts. I see these long posts all the time on review sites and I wonder if that's really what I should be doing.

It's hard for me to keep track/use the keywords I researched. Mainly because only so few actually have reported searches and because it's just hard to keep track of.


I'm thinking about making another site that's an authority on top of this. I'm basically treating it like an authority. Naturally the articles I wrote up came out that way so I am just going with it. So either I have two similar authority sites and just spin my own content and rehash it or just keep strictly reviews and transfer the existing and future info articles onto the authority.


I feel like if I did anyhting it would be to just re-write all the how-to articles and maybe draw them out a bit more. Make longer posts aswell as review random events that happened aswell as products. Idk if this niche is even worth that much so we'll see. I like it though so far.
Thoughts? -- set up another site -- add the information articles, events/news in the niche as well as the reviews I would on a mns or just keep the MNS and turn it into ONE authority. It's an EMD though. Repeated myself like 3x so hopefully it's clear.


Doing alot of work/Writing alot for school so it cuts into the time. I also need an hour or two a day for guitar, tv shows, and occasional league game.


There are a few things keeping me going: music that makes me dream of how life could really be, how much I hate working my day job, having to go to school, having to share an apartment, the perpetual wonder of if I'll actually be able to pay for everything.

I gotta get shit going.


I have another website up, 29 clicks on amazon. Progress. I gotta tweak that site and make it look good. I'm going to let it sit a little longer and I'll revamp it. I also need to make forum posts in.. I'm bringing that site into this journey starting now.
Anything old site is: Site A,

Anything NEW is Site B. This is going to be confusing but here we go.


So, Site A is still small, 5-7 views a day traffic. 29 amazon clicks so far, no sales. So I'm going to put up 30 minutes of posting on forums/alerted sites tomorrow.


Site B - need to add one more post before I go to sleep and schedule it for a couple days out. Then I can sleep in until 11 if I want tomorrow.

I'll wake up, play guitar while breakfast cooks, if I'm feeling ambitious I'll do some writing before class and then after work tomrrow going to write up TWO posts and start making some forum accounts related to Site B aswell as making sure I did the forum posting for Site A.


To Do:

SIte B - 10 forum posts on at least 4 forums. 2 new posts.

Site A -- 10 forum posts, start looking for new themes for it.

I wrote up about 6 or so articles, all between 4-1100 words. Making site B into an authority, the products for the main intended niche are actually extremely thin. I didn't know much about the niche at the time so it wasn't easy to see. However there is another site that offers an affiliate program that sells products within my niche and may promote through them if they're reputable. I need to work on my site some more so they can see I'm not wasting anybody's time.

Site B:

Made accounts on four forums, have about 6-7 posts on each site so far. I just made a post on a forum and put an amazon shortlink to a product in one with my affiliate code in it. It expanded when the post was made but is that against amazon's TOS? I need to look that up.

Have 5? articles I need to upload to my site. I'm taking a different angle on writing reviews and trying to make the site so it's more of a reader oriented. I'm not just listing facts about the product I'm writing from a point of "personal experience". I make it seem like I'm writing a letter directly to the reader as if they're a friend I've known for a while. I'll see how this works. I'm also using a few different authors on the website and pretending to have fan posts and writing on a topic I've gotten tons of emails on.

I have class so wrapping it up, but progress is being made

49 amazon clicks but no sales yet. Gotta keep at it.

Site B:

1 post written, goal is to write atleast 2 more before I go to sleep. If I can just write 2 posts a day that's 14 a week. Perfect imo.
A few forum posts, using forums to help me gather content for future posts. Can take their experience as my own.
Made a logo for the site
Added a background & put my content within a container.


For some reason my posts aren't recognizing header tags, working on that now.

Problems:
Not using Keywords.
-- It's like it doesn't even make sense to. For one, they don't pull any search volume If I check them and it just seems like extra work. The only problem I can see myself running into is if I review two products of the same brand. Also, if they don't pull any search volume, are they even a "keyword" or just words in a string. Or is that the point that they are not supposed to show any search volume in keyword planner? Idk. I use the researched keywords when I can but I'm not keeping track of them necessarily.


Goals for Friday:
8 new posts, with 4 uploaded (1 uploaded 3 scheduled) to site.
15 forum posts on each of the 3 I'm active on.

If I reach this I'll have around 15 posts ready for the site.

re-changing focus of site B again. returning it to a normal EMD review site. Everything makes sense again.

69 clicks on amazon. Sale will be soon I can feel it. Also, modifying how I'm going to submit my posts. Using enticing language, soft selling, covering bother points of view so unbiased, and making it look reliable. After I finished two papers today, I found a new way to write much more efficiently. Scheduled a new post for the site, 1.6k words, took me like 45 minutes for everything.

Photoshopping images from amazon so they bleed money. Really makes a difference. Learn how, it's two simple adjustments and I generally crop the image down to the product to get rid of the border. Maybe I'm giving too much away in my posts....

Subscribed to this thread because I'm planning to do the same like what you are doing.
An Authority site is always better than niche because of its long-term potential.

Btw, I dont think Amazon allows the traffic come from Forum. But it's good that you can have some backlinks to your main site?

Have four posts scheduled out over a week. Working damn slow lol. Had to re-vamp alot of posts, was gone all weekend and internet is damn slow. Image searching takes forever as google search takes it's sweet time to load. alot of time spent watching my browser spin. Upgraded that today though, should be good soon enough.

Need to create negative reviews aswell as comparison reviews. Difficult, as no actual experience so alot of researching and trying not to repeat myself throughout posts. Still writing as though it's the first post I've ever written.




need to start working on traffic, considering using some articles that didn't cut it for the site ( went thorugh a rough starting phase where the content I was creating was complete BS, didn't realize, finally did, solved, hence the re-vamping) and using them to generate links from an article site. Does that still work anymore?
Also, need to create dedicated forum accounts for my website, just don't want to seem spammy.. and then that's another account to have to build posts on.

Good luck on your journey, I tried recently with Amazon and had only four sales. Getting a domain is the best thing for making money from Amazon.
My sales were came from google searches but not all the time. I will be reding your thread regularly.

last night, I was going to go to bed as I was so tired but I switched to the tab with my journal up and saw the support... I stayed up and did some work.

Progress since last update:
-- metas for posts & authors,
- still need to do for pages, also need to hide bio's for authors. Doesn't look good and I'm afraid of repetitive content.

-- it may take me a day or two just to do this one post. It's a mega post and the outline for it alone is around 1100 words. This is where I messed up on my niche though, I won't be able to upload my own material to add visuals into the post, I'll have to manipulate what I need with photoshop and do a bit of searching. I'll also have to double check that the visuals correlate with what I'm showing. Just extra work but all apart of the research. I'm getting more and more familair with my niche as I go. Hope it pays off. I'll have to do it two more times. I'll probably do one every two weeks or so, or atleast upload at that interval. This will keep the content different to google. And I'll know more by then. Pro's to waiting.

97 clicks, still no sale....... I think I'm doing alright, I've left my first site pretty much untouched so far. I really need to re-do it now that I have a bit of experience with this. I feel like it'd almost be easier to completely re-create the site... I'm one to just start cmpltely over instead of fixing things but It's not too bad.. I'll consider starting to work on it after my mega post. This new site has all my attention and interest though.

Just realized this dude was staring at me, was a weird feeling. Starting to work in some coffee shops to get out of the apartment, Feels good. At one that's open until 2am. I'm rotating where I go. My third time doing this.

Needed to make an update.


I'm pretty sure I was close to death last week. I spent a week in forced sleep. Was the worst. However, I feel like I Was reset. I feel really good, my attitude shifted and I may have found my way out of the period of de-motivation. I phase alot. We'll see.


Should have a new job coming soon, thank fucking god. I have an interview tomorrow in the morning I'm.. now idk if I'm even going to work, but I feel obligated to as the doctor pulled out two lashes embedded in my eye out today. Would hate if she felt used. Anyway if I go to work I have to leave to go to the interview. That'll be fun to tell my insane manager. Still thinking the most efficient way to do this, and for myself. Not going to go in for an hour to leave and come back in 5.

- changed the theme of site A, looks amazing.
- Added Meta descriptions to all of the pages, except one or two have to finish those after this
- discovered I'm almost on page 1 for a pretty powerful keyword.
- google analytics are showing increased traffic and some is through organic search. Still not much.
- 2 clicks on amazon since new month, that will change as I up the traffic.


Creating Web 2.0s for the sites is my main focus for right now.
