Thanks. But does GoDaddy charge an additional WHOIS fee? Surely that bumps up the price to not be far off Namecheap (my preference)?

It's better to just wait for the other companies (your favorite domain company) to start giving away their promo codes than to get a godaddy domain for cheap then get screwed later to transfer it over..

Speaking from a developer's standpoint, I prefer GoDaddy. Their DNS updates faster than anyone else I've found.
 
For my coupon codes I use the (Chrome/FireFox) extension "Honey".

It uses the latest 20 coupon codes and determines which one gives the the best deal. Just thought I'd put that out there :)
 
Thanks for the share, you could use this code and then turn around and buy another domain for $2.95 which there is no code for. Just a regular promo I believe.
