Day before yesterday I posted a project for android music streaming app.
Average bid was 500$ and I think it is fair for me.
One Indian guy has been approaching me to award him the project as he got more than 600 positive reviews I awarded him.
So I created first milestone of 250$
And I paid 250$ but I think the payment is in freelancer.com and holding it.
The freelancer insisting me to release payment and only after that he will start working.

I mean WTF, he has delivered nothing but asking me to release the money.

I said atleast send me few UI so I can believe you.
He then sent me few pages of ui which he replaced the images and edited few text of the rough sketch I had given him.

I then read all his negative reviews mostly where buyers are saying he always insist people to release payment and deliver nothing or sometime very poor quality service.
I think most reviews are bought.

Another Indian freelancer had sent me an app link and claiming she has developed and it has 10 million downloads. I asked her the proof she said I have trust issues:p

Overall my experiences on freelancer.com is shit after Covid arrived.

This is not a post of racism, even I am Indian and I have met very good fellow Indian programmer earlier.

Just warning you guys: Reviews can be bought even in large numbers.

UpWork maybe? And btw, it has nothing to do with Indians, there is bunch of other people doing exact same thing, but you wanted to go cheap so you picked Indian :D

Try your luck with Upwork, they tend to be in favor of buyers, if seller fails to deliver

Im quite sure there are a lot of bot accs on those sites. Once I posted a big ass job (like very big, at least a month worth) with a price low as fuck (5 dollars). I recevied four replies claiming they would do it. Either way, as in anything, a lot of due diligence and screening is needed. There are some good freelancers, but they are very well hidden among ripoffs and overvalued jerks.

As someone who has worked as a freelancer on upwork in the past, you really do get what you pay for.

I know that is cliche, but it's just the truth.

A good coder will charge a premium for his services because he knows he's good. Regardless of the country.

I'm not Indian but what does buying reviews has to do with India?!

Can't people from other countries buy fake reviews?

You tried to make it sound like your comment isn't racist, but it is.
Why only Indians are trying to scam me?
Like I said on thread that one guy has sent me an app link which is a bank's official investment app and has 10 million downloads?

It's like saying italians are all mafiosi, germans are all nazis, and russians do nothing but drink vodka all day.

These are all wrong generalizations to say the least.

Or it's like African are black, European are white, we are brown,
which is truth. But not all.

Geez, here we go again! Two posts today about “ Indians”! Either VA or programmer!
I’m not Indian but be respectful for everyone here. I have hired good guys from India, VA, programmers and so on. I have seen bad programmers from other countries too, US, Europe, Asia ...
Paying $15 for a PROGRAMMER! and expecting him / her to do a good job is a joke. LOL.
When you hire on upwork, filter them to get people who have worked at least 1000 hours, have 4.8 starts at least, have a good number of reviews and make sure to ready reviews as if they say good or just few words then keep looking, a happy employer will write up a longer review than just good or thank you.
Make sure they send you examples of their work, hire them on a small project, very small one or two and see how they communicate and if they can do simple tasks then move slowly to a bigger job, don’t give them $1000 job on one task or contract, what if they don’t do it!
I had a better luck hiring from agencies on upwork as they seem to have many people work for them so if one can’t do it may be another one can, but if you hire a person that is working for himself, he may not really know how to do certain thing and get stuck.

70% elite accounts on freelancer are agencies trying to bid on bulk projects to outsource them. Freelancer has its foundations on scam & spam. You can't blame anyone after using their website. Trust me, if you raise the issue, the staff will scam you to get rid of you :D

Even if you wanted to point out bulk fake reviews can be bought on freelancing platforms (which it true), the title ^^ you chose reflected something entirely different. Better to re-read what you've written before you actually post it :)

I agree Indian or not. A fake is a fake. never release funds until you know. I have someone from bhw making a website for me. I paid the initial deposit to get started once it’s complete I will pay the second. He doesn’t push for money at all. Honest man.

Not this stereotypical thread again. you can call a spade a spade but dont generalize. Grow up and accept responsibility you made a mistake and in the process got fucked. The cheaper any freelancer is willing to do a task for you the more the chances of them fucking you over. Its something I found out the hard way.

The problem is not only with people you come across. You should have hire someone from good websites like BHW, Upwork & other reputed freelance website.
Freelancer.com is full of shit these days, never buy any services from there.

Average programmers get paid a third of that in my country. I mean the ones that actually know how to do stuff. Bad ones sell cracked software on streets or rip off people with phony "web design agencies" aka "installing wordpress, a cracked nice looking theme and passing overvalued domain and hosting bills to small businesses".
