Never EVER use Dreamhost

Pay peanuts, get monkies - DH somehow has good marketing, but the rest of their set up is not the best. To be honest look at any huge company be it Dreamhost, Godaddy, Hostgator they are all shite once they have your money.

Support smaller businesses, you will get better treatment, more personal service - yes you will have to fork out a few more bucks but you get what you pay for right?

If everyone goes for the most resources possible for the lowest buck possible how do you think the company will pay for top notch infrastructure and top notch support?

I have been saying the same since I sold both my hosting businesses years ago once the penny pinching and offering the world started.....all I have seen is my predictions coming right, big companies appear, take your money, give inferior support and people wonder why.

I found namecheap hosting much better & cheap. What you think about them??
 
I have a Dreamhost account, been with them for 8+ years. No problems, but I don't really use them for any money sites. Just a few clients who want cheap hosting.

Regardless of what you are doing, don't put all your eggs in one basket.

Try some Good Reliable VPS if you was targeting 12 Sites.
 
First grab all of your content from google, bing cache. Then choose a good hosting company.
 
I have been using their services in the past, like in about 10+ years ago they were decent for the price, but even back then you get what you pay for. They had some offer to pay something silly for a year of hosting + referral system if I recall well... :)

Also try to contact them and just ask them to allow you to migrate your websites.
 
Huh... lucky me that i have red this thread. I was about to buy a hosting from them, and i need it to use for money making methods with some ppd networks.
 
THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH DREAM HOST.

The problem here is your failure to read the TOS. Also your failure to backup your sites. Next time you get hosting do your research. I personally just purchased a quadcore laptop and a static ip from comcast and I host all my websites off my own linux box in my office... so any complaints come right to me and go right in the trash.... simple enough.. think outside the goddamn box people
 
Did you break their TOS though?

Any host will disable your account if you are in breach of TOS...
 
Hmm...A backup once in a while never hurts anyone! These kind of things happen in online business...Now you know!
 
You probably broke TOS terms. I doubt they would delete your account out of the blue. They're a legit company and if they did this type of practise throughout every account, they would be out of business.

Have you at least tried contacting them via support tickets?
 
I'm sorry to read about this atrocious story.

You should check their terms of services as far as most of the web hosting providers do have a policy about giving a backup to the users who violated their TOS and are suspended.
They may charge you to give you a backup file on a per account basis (if reseller), one flat fee if you are on a shared web hosting account.
Sometimes, this fee is expensive though.

However, the downside with Bluehost is that they are using a tweaked cPanel version and their backup aren't universal cpmove files that you can restore easily on common cPanel servers but still you may have the possibility to retrieve your files and databases that you can manually recover else where.

If there is no such possibility, then Google Cache or archive.org may help you to retrieve your websites content from a cached version.
