A step by step guide to setup your own proxy server . No need to buy proxies again when you can setup your own server in almost same prices as most of providers sell .

Step # 1 : Goto LowEndBox.com or Webhostingtalk.com and find a VPS provider who has good reviews and can provide additional ips in reasonable prices (1$ per ip)

Step # 2 : Buy a Liunux VPS with 1GB RAM , 1 Core with 100Mbit or above port speed and with additional ips

Usuall prices for such VPS are 5$ per month for VPS and 10$ for 10 additional IPS

So in 15$ you get 11 total IPs (10 additional and 1 VPS IP) which you can then convert into proxies - In 15$ you are getting 11 Virgin Dedicated Proxies which you cannot purchase from most sellers

To get different IP range and subnets , purchase different smaller VPS in different locations and setup proxy server on them

Now the actual Work starts to setup proxy server

Steps to follow : Install Ubuntu 14 when you purchase VPS and then run below commands in SSH terminal (Use Putty for SSH access)
    1. apt-get update
    2. apt-get -y install fail2ban software-properties-common
    3. apt-get install nano
    4. apt-get install build-essential libevent-dev libssl-dev
    5. cd /etc
    6. wget http://3proxy.ru/0.7.1.1/3proxy-0.7.1.1.tgz
    7. tar zxvf 3proxy-0.7.1.1.tgz
    8. rm 3proxy-0.7.1.1.tgz
    9. cd 3proxy
    10. nano src/proxy.h
    11. add line - #define ANONYMOUS 1 (this makes proxy anonymous)
    12. make -f Makefile.Linux
    13. make -f Makefile.Linux install
    14. mkdir log
    15. cd cfg
    16. nano 3proxy.cfg
    17. Add ips here along with Username : Password : Port in this format : proxy -p3128 -a -iYour Ip here -eYour Ip here
    18. Edit username and password in the same file in this format : users UsernameHere:CL:passwordHere
    19. Allow your username in the same file (You will see the Allow option , just add your username there)
    20. chmod 0777 3proxy.cfg
    21. cd ../
    22. nano scripts/rc.d/proxy.sh ( enter the directory where you installed 3Proxy script! )
    23. sh scripts/rc.d/proxy.sh start
    24. nano /etc/rc.local
    25. sh /etc/3proxy/scripts/rc.d/proxy.sh start
Summary of the above commands :
    1. Update Ubuntu
    2. Install Fail2ban
    3. Install Nano editor
    4. Install libevent and libssl
    5. Download 3Proxy script
    6. Unzip it to directory
    7. And edit the Proxy.h file through Nano and add line #define ANONYMOUS1
    8. Edit 3Proxy.cfg through Nano and add your ips along with port , username and password
    9. Then edit proxy.sh and enter where you installed 3Proxy
    10. Reboot the server and thats it !

Thats it , restart your server and your proxy server is ready . Go ahead and test your proxies .

NIce touturial , I have 1 on one of my dedicated servers but I pay for dedicated proxies (they are not so dedicated haha... ) but in the future I will switch to your strategy.Because quality and speed are important than a few $ . Also virgin IP is a gold mine.

I doubt you still get IPv4 Adresses in bulk for cheap as 1$, at least for not too long. I saw price raises for IPv4 adresses allaround.

IPv6 could be an option depending on what you need to access via proxy.

I am always concerned about the speed of the VPS found on those sites though. I would not want to trust them with anything that I had in a live environment that paying customers were relying on.

I am not saying that I would never use them, just that I would only trust them for personal use where I didn't have paying customers relying on me for them.

Am I just being prejudiced or are there issues with reliability and low speeds with these VPS?

Great guide by the way though, like given.

Addiitonal IPs are more likely in the USD2 range. OP, I have some questions, hope u can answer:

    1. How much ram do you need for 1 proxy usually? 128mb minimum?
    2. How /good/anonymous is this 3proxy setup? Is it better than Squid?
    3. Having all IPs on the same server, that's going to have a footprint, wouldn't it?

So your proxies are the 10 you bought plus the one from the IP? Whenever you need more proxies you have to buy from the VPS server? But what I do not understand: Lets say you run a social network bot on the server. Would it not possible just to buy 10 IPs and let each account of the bot use one of these IPs? In that scenario do I need the Ubuntu scripts?

VPS is just web hosting. It doesn't come pre-installed with proxy capabilities. That's why op is showing how to setup 3proxy.ru and everything else to get it to work on your bots.

This is why when proxy provider sell you below $1 for a dedi proxy, be careful. As it is impossible to get so cheap even if you setup your own IPs.

@jimbobo2779 you are right , there are tons of cheap providers on these hosting related forums , you have to check every providers reviews , talk with them and judge yourself which provider is good

@4Panda Not sure how much ram each proxy will consume , i am not a techie linux guy :)
3Proxy is good and light weight , Squid is more technicall
You dont need to get all ips on same server , you can use 5 to 10 ips on each server and then purchase another vps from different location

Not impossible at all, you just need to own the IPs, not rent them.

How much bandwith would you require for the proxies + some SEO tools like pinterest software and GSA SER?
