.net to wordpress site?

Hello guys, I want to migrate a website from .net to wordpress.

So after migrating it to the worpdress, would i need to redirect all the URLs?

What about content? Can i use the same content as I am redirecting the URLs or i need to rewrite?

I will really appreciate your help.

If its on the same domain why would you need to redirect the urls? just make the url scheme the same as it was in the .net site...

Yes if you change your url structure, just do permanent redirect. You can do this using a Wordpress plugin, so it won't be that much of a problem.

You will have to clarify what you are trying to do. Are you going to use the same domain or just move everything and start from zero? If latter, then yes, copy everything over and start afresh.

If it is the same domain, there is no need to worry about duplicate content if you using same permalink structure (don't need to redirect)..., if you use diff permalink structure just redirect your urls and that's it...

It depends. If you submit your site in WMT as changed ( and redirect every link) then don't rewrite it, else you are ultimately making anew site if not wasting a new one..

in that case... do perma redirect to all the new articles... you will not be punished for duplicate articles on the same domain IMO..but you will get many 404 errors in your WMT if you do not redirect them properly... I would rather redirect all of the old ones to the new ones.. or try to use the same url scheme.

  Don't rewrite. When a 301 is involved, it becomes needless to rewrite content as duplicate content becomes a non-issue.
