I want to pick a domain for a website targeted exclusively to US audience. What should I choose from a SEO perspective - a .net domain or a .us domain. These two are the only free domains which are available for my keyword. So which one is the best choice?

.net is a much better choice

If .org is taken, make sure the .net wasn't banned in the past.

Between a double hyphen .net domain (x-y-z type of domain) and a no-hyphen .us domain (xyz type of domain) which is better from a SEO point of view?

x, y, z are three words, forming together a keyword. So the differences are - one domain is .net, but comes with 2 hyphens and the other one is .us and comes with no hyphens. These 3 words are exactly the same in both cases. And it seems that I can't post links here as mods don't allow me to do this yet.

I would usually choose the .net, but for SEO purposes I don't think you will be punished using a .US extension because you are targetting US visitors only. I am in Canada and I get bombarded by .CA extensions on Google. And the .US is easier to type in. Also, true Patriots will get the "Made in the USA" feeling from your website possibly.

Sorry for asking so many questions but I want to learn as more as possible about keywords and SEO. :)
So, I'd like to know too if there is any difference between a domain which includes a keyword + another word and a domain which includes ONLY that keyword. The last one is better, and if yes, then why that? Or it's exactly the same thing?

In my opinion, having just the keyword as your domain name is good, but I prefer having another word in it with the keyword in there as well. Why? Simply because it's hard to just put the keyword in the domain.. Haha but if I can I would :)

Well, I also like to put another word with the keyword, for long tail rankings, and branding purposes. Exact match keyword domains are "ok" for SEO, but not 100% necessary, and they are great for type-in traffic.

Another thing to consider if that you probably don't want to have more than 3 words, and really probably dont want more than 4 words for your domain name, so if your keyword phrase is already 2-3 words, you might not want to throw in extra words.

Definitely check the past history for any domain you want to rank. Google is retarded when it comes to penalties for that kind of stuff. I'm pretty sure .us is supposed to be targeted for US visitors, but in practice I don't think the tld is going to matter.

The history of the domains is clean. I am thinking that the best one is either Domain 1, Domain 2, Domain 4, Domain 7 or Domain 8, but I still can't decide by myself. Please help me, guys! So, what do you think, which one is the best to choose in order to get the best targeted traffic??

just pick one and get to work, you're putting way too much thought into something comparatively unimportant

I have a .net for my brand name and I am happy with it. I think it is the best of the non .coms.
