I'd say get them both, I used to prefer .orgs, but now I personally prefer .net's now for my niches, they tend to have a better CTR if you get them to the first page, if someone is looking for shopping or to spend some money, they would rather click a .net than a .org.
I had this situation going for myself, I bought the .net and .org domains with my keyword, I built sites on both with different themes and similar, but original content on both, the .org was 5th and the .net was 6th in the SERPS, the .net got considerably more visits, it was a shopping keyword, I redirected the .org to the .net in the end and it pushed up to the top four.
I think that .org subliminally says 'charity, organisation, boring'.
If I want to protect a brand that I've made, I make sure I get the .net and .com, .org's don't bother me anymore.
I have never noticed any significant difference in ranking between .net and .org if proper content creation, link building and SEO is in place.
Just my 2 cents.
