one of my clients business name domain is parked by one of the big domain registrars. (.com. is the one gone) while other tld are available but the client feels they prefer com better. they're seeking upwards of 2000$ plus other handling charges etc. the domain name is nothing fancy. name + business +City. they're a tiny business and I'd like your tips on negotiating with the registrar/agents. any of your experience would be helpful.

Agree on .Com for sure. But a 3 word domain for $2k- no way- Maybe, if it's legal, fincen, etc. 3 words are in vast supply. JoesPlumbingJacksonville(.)com? FredsRoofingDallas(.)com SilviasMattressesHollywood(.)... sorry none of those types are worth $2k.

2 words and short, sure. Like say MarysMelons(.)com

I would suggest better choose some other new domain name than spending $2000

such domain name is not worth $2000

I would find a short .com name for that money
