Negative SEO - On Purpose!

There is an image of the iScritty fiverr profile from the waybackmachine that is from about 2 years ago. Do you seriously believe that someone created that Fiverr profile 2 years ago, so some day in the future he could use it to make it look like you did negative SEO to someone else? Just watching and waiting two years for you to get in a debate with someone about negative SEO, so he could do a link blast against someone just to make you look the type of person who would spitefully try to harm the livelihoods of others?
A 2 year plan to frame you for negative SEO. What a freakin' genius!

I'd be hard pressed to believe that it is intentional on Google's part. Do they think it might benefit them? Possibly. But negative SEO is a simple, and natural, consequence of SEO. In any field in which some people are held above others, it's possible to exploit it to push people lower than yourself.

Negative SEO has always been around. It just became incredibly easy lately and gained its popularity. As long as Google is making updates and "punishing" SEOs with weak practices, there will be neg seo.

The alternative is links being either valuable or neutral, which will make SEO dead easy - throw everything you've got and hope some of it works.

It's not dead easy if everyone is doing it.... I agree with OP that this negative SEO thing benefits google, I just don't think it's done on purpose. I think google lost control a while ago and they're using human reviewers for their ranking. They hire thousands of human reviewers for a reason.

Yeah, I almost think G encourages neg SEO because people get scared and use PPC after getting hit. Not cool.

SB links isn't Negative SEO.

You have a lot to learn, trust me. You can sink huge sites with a few clicks.
 
I thought negative seo was not real until some jerk
tanked my website with negative seo and I was forced
to just start over with another domain name.
 
I do mostly ORM work, not conventional SEO, so our targets are negative review sites or deliberate attack sites, not competitors (we won't do that). So I feel fully justified in using negative SEO, and I'll quit when Google starts playing fair and not favoring these negative review sites.

In what bizarro universe does it make sense for a single Ripoff Report (yes, the company only has one single complaint there) to be ranked ahead of the company's official Facebook page, which has thousands of real, organic fans and tons of daily activity?

Google isn't playing fair, so when it's a matter of the life or death of your business, what are you supposed to do?

I also had a successful ecommerce site suffer from Negative SEO, it was depressing at the time but I sold it and have moved on. Fatal System Error is a good book about cyber crime and the blackmail that goes on. It's nothing new really.
