Negative SEO / New Penguin update

I noticed a competitor's site with thousands of porn/irrelevant links take a severe beating today. The site got demoted from page 1 to page 6, this guy was running a non geo-targeted legitimate business and seemed to be under attack from someone.

Has anyone else noticed this happen to sites undergoing negative SEO or dare I ask...has anyone noticed their own negative SEO efforts becoming more effective with this update? I'm aware it's early days but I'm trying to establish the possibility that Google may have inadvertently supercharged negative SEO with this update.

There aren't any "negative SEO efforts". Those are not efforts. Those are pure dirt, "negative seo dirt".
Because of such assholes, the environment gets smelly.

I quite agree but until today it remained an effort as it was ongoing and not working. Today though, the site has all but dissapeared, just trying to find out whether this is isolated or across the board now? If so, it's going to be a scary time.
 
Just looking around the forum today and it looks like several people have been hit with the update.
It will be interesting to see if NEGSEO has gained more power because of it.

I got an inner page with some pornhub, sex, etc anchors. It went from #7 to #4 so I don`t know if Neg SEO got more effective. However, this might be too early to tell.
 
Time to rethink SEO services. Instead of ranking your website, it will be easier to neg seo all your competitors. Brilliant, thank you google!
 
I saw an article before where people were saying it's "good that Negative SEO works so well as Blackhat people spam each other off the SERPs"... Pretty stupid that the person didn't understand the fact that they themselves are a vulnerable target if anyone in their niche decides to strike.
 
Negative seo will give result for a small time.So you should focus on niche back links.
