wassup guys, ran a little experiment last few weeks; thought i'd let you know how it went. Local SEO being different from ''normal'' or classic SEO I wanted to know if negative seo worked for local as well. Ran an experiment on a local 700/month search in my hometown for the keyword ''XYZ Professional in XYZ town'', for example lawyer red deer or whatever. Ran a scrapebox blast on every AA list I could find linking to a site with exact match Anchor text lawyer red deer for example.. over 100k+ successful posts. Not many of them are showing up in Ahrefs right now but you can still see the site is getting over optimized for that keyword. Results : the site went from #4 to #1 after 3 weeks, passing my own experimental site. (btw I'm talking about the organic listing not the 7 places pages). Wonder if it's gonna stay there or get the axe eventually.

I really doubt google refreshes their penguin update every few days. You'll have to wait and see.

update us when you have an answer :)

Some one tried that on my site and it only help. All the social attention my sites get out-weighs the spam links I think. They did a spam blast on my site 3 mouths ago :D

Sounds like it will tank once the Penguin algorithm is applied to the site. Negative SEO is churn and burn basically...short-term results but they can be big.

Its nothing new, If the site is an authority site, Your SB blast with end up helping them.

I have run a few similar tests with different results that all point to the same conclusion. If it's a relatively new, unestablished domain, you can bomb it with several thousands of exact match blog comments, forum comments, and other spam and it will disappear very quickly. If it's an old somewhat established domain, you're only going to help it.

LOL why'd you have to blast a competitor in the same niche and risk them outranking you? You could've easily picked some other niche...

Don't care about that niche.. if I helped them good for them! By the way it's a small site with like 15 pages and no PR..

thanks will keep you guys updated (no matter what the issue)

Quick update on this.. stopped blasting the day I posted this. Today the targeted site dropped back to #4, and my site went back to #2. right behind a useless yellowpage with no information on it.

Yesterday there was an update. Maybe thats the reason.

ans is simple, it will not stay there. It work all the time but for short time. Diversity in anchors can guarantee to stay little longer, but too many links still not good.

I know this is Blackhat, but why experiment on peoples sites who don't actually deserve having their site ripped to shreds?
Also, you might just be hurting one of us, or said persons bread and butter he supports his family with.

Most of you guys are pretty good at what you do, I am sure you can find those deserving of being used for your "experiments" rather then hurt some unknown little guy.

I dont know much but I am trying, sucks that there are people here bragging about picking some random site and fk'n with it, it could be mine next.

And the big kicker here is when google updates and gets wise to these unnatural backlink blasts, you then complain when they de-rank the shyt out of you.

Karma sucks dont it?

I think if you wish to do experiments, take the time and make a mock website and use it for your experiments, rather then hurt someone not deserving.

You might as well break into his house and rob him blind, because in the end, you are hurting his income by fkin with his site.
Then to brag about it?

Think about it.

I agree with you gypsyr road. I forgot to mention the site is already ranked in the ''7 google places listing'' so his actual local organic serp was BELOW that.. so what I do has almost zero impact on his traffic. And that site has terrible optimization for that keyword so they're obviously not doing SEO and relying on internet traffic for their business.

On a side note what makes you think I'm not a victim of negative SEO myself?

Hmm if this works short term, maybe I can just set up a web2.0 and blast it for some short term advertisement.

Im looking for a list of negative SEO to blast my own site.. Just for testing purposes ofcourse :) Does anyone have a list they can share ? I tried to harvest from scrapebox but for some reason i cannot find much porn links.
