Negative newspaper article removed: how?

I found and used a company to remove the article and now after a week or so they actually did it. The article is down and de-indexed. They were paid after it was de-indexed as in the contract. They said they made a contract with the papers so are able to guarantee the article won't be ever be republished. I'm wondering how they did it? Any ideas?

Article info: Man arrested 5 years ago and made all big papers for the arrest. Charges were dropped but papers left as is.
