Negative balance in Stripe

A friend of mine have been dropshipping a hair product last year before his company got out of business, he now has a negative balance in Stripe that equals about $50k, I tried to convince him to pay his debt but it's a lot of money..
I'm wondering what the worst that could happen in case he doesn't pay, he's from an african country.

I doubt Stripe will shrug their shoulders and say 'oh well'.

If he has the funds to pay it off, do so.
If not bankruptcy is one option to consider.

If he's in Africa... There isn't much Stripe can do to pursue it. After 2 years they will end up writing it off. If he were in the US, that debt would land him in court.

$50k is a lot of debt.
I doubt if he would be able to pay it.
