Recently I sold a gaming laptop for $2k then I shipped the laptop from my county Philippines to the buyer. Then after a few weeks I've been told that there was a problem with the shipping and cannot be shipped to the buyer. The buyer then disputed and ask for a refund. The only problem is that I already spent the money. After 10 days paypal refunds the money and I got a -$2000 negative balance. What do you think will PayPal do if I didn't pay the negative balance? I really don't have the money to pay it.

They're not going to do anything. A friend of mine got some chargebacks awhile back and stopped using his account. It didn't go on his credit. They sent him a few letters asking him to take care of the balance and "come back" but that's about it.

I believe that for $2000 they will try to get a collector to get their money if they can't that's it.

if they has your real information they will get a collector to get their money .

my friend in uk had negative balance and pp sent debt collectors to deal with it.

If you don't add $2000 the buyer won't get refund. The GayPal thing is as I read on PayPal TOS the buyer won't get refund if PayPal doesn't get money from the seller.

So if anything is going to happen you should think about both the buyer and PayPal

I think you should contact PayPal tell them you don't have money and a kidney make them understand you have the product and want to ship it to buyer.

Huh? im saying they will refund whoever regardless of the amount in the sellers account.

I buy through paypal using a credit card, that way I am also covered by Section75 if I need a chargeback.

You are right if the buyer used CC to pay OP is in double trouble.

Can't say you more paypal clearly says when a dispute is won by buyer it does not guarntee the amounts to be refunded. If PayPal is unable to recover money from the seller.
It's GayPal mate they are not going to loose any money.

If you don't mind sharing the terms??? Because I've used PayPal a bunch and never had a situation not getting the money from a refund from a case I won.

I'm pretty sure PayPal would be out of business if they did that cuz that goes again their "money back guarantee" policy.

for @op.. you have 2 choice :
1. Add fund to your paypal account and call about your situation.
2. Your account will limited and your address will be on their black list. So people who want signup using related address with you will got a problem, any people signup using same name like you in same state will got more monitoring.

Christ man most of you guys have no clue at all don't just make stuff up the guy wants to know what going to happen. In regards to the person wanting the refund they will get their cash back the only time they won't is if they believe they are in on the scam. This is part of an insurance that paypal has, you really think for one second paypal would not pay back it's consumers when it is not their fault? They do however hold funds for a very long time even the buyer may need to wait till it clears. Now when it comes to you, they will try to call you, send letters and try to basically get hold of you to pay up. Now i left an old account with -$80 had a few letters and that was it. I would think they will send debt collectors around for 2k though as someone would snap that debt up in a heart beat.

Worst case scenario it will leave a default on your credit rating who cares right? Unless you have some nasty bastards who collect debts in your home country. I wouldn't worry until you see court papers, im not sure how the law works in your home country so can't offer you more advice.

The buyer already get the refund. If the buyer won the case then he will get a refund even if the seller doesn't have enough balance.

The weird thing is Paypal didn't email me anything. The only email that I received is that the buyer won the case and will deduct it to my Paypal. I also don't know how dept collectors work in my country or any country. Will they go to my address or something?

If you didn't get an email or call, expect a letter in 30 - 60 days time. Debt collectors normally send letters first, they can show up at your house but only if you ignore them. Most of the time there willing to accept a small payment from you i.e a few dollars a month. But some are just bastards and will take you to court for the cash. Just tell the judge all you can afford is $1 a month and they will have to accept it. Then again you do not live where i do. If your at all concerned talk to some kind of money advice service in your home country and find out whats the worst case scenario.

This normally only happen if a debt collection agency buy the debt off of paypal. In most cases small debts end at a few letters because paypal has an insurance back up plan for small debts. But in your case it's a fair wad of cash it's not chump change now is it. Will you ever get this laptop back so you can sell it on again?

Thanks for the info. It's been more than 60 days now. Still no letter or call.
I already got my laptop but can't sell it because of my Paypal.

Just keep a note of it and move on. In case anyone asks about it in the future.
