Depends on what country you are in. They will get a tax write off so it's not going to hurt them either way.

Collections is the action of trying to redeem money from a debt contract.

It goes against your credit, no matter what the value, and Companies will try to persuade you to pay (offer a lower balance/payment plans)
Send mail, phone calls, etc...

Is you debit/credit card attached to it? If yes then it will be deducted there, if not then you're fine. Close the damn account

If your bank account or cards are connected with your PP and you have any amount there than they will deduct it otherwise they can't do anything.
