I am not really familiar with web building other than fantastico, wordpress etc. etc.

I have some templates I would like to use on sub domain on some of my sites.

I create the sub domain and upload all the files including the index.

But when I go to the sub domain, the files just show up in a list.

Anybody know where I am going wrong?

yes you need to rename the main page to one of these options or similar depending on what language it's in:

    index.htm
    index.html
    index.php
    inedx.asp
    index.jsp

Basically you just need one file to be the index. If you still have trouble send me a PM and i will see if i can help out.

    My index is named index.html

Thats why I am so confused, it should be working.

edit: Its doing this on every template I try to use :( could it be something wrong with my yahoo server?

If it's a flash template the links are probably hard coded and you might need to edit the flv file and recompile the swf
