Need to create WP BuddyPress users on my own site

I have a start up site and I need to populate my own site with some accounts to have some kind of userbase. Maybe a few hundred user accounts.

I'm using BuddyPress and I'm wondering what the easiest way is to create some accounts automatically and upload at least one picture for each account.

Is there a bot? Should I hire someone to do it manually?

How can I do it?

There is also a ning social network which I would really like to scrape the profiles off. In fact there are ning to buddypress plug-ins.

Unfortunately it is not my ning site and you must own the ning social network to export the csv of members.
