So I need to 301 redirect a site category from http://www.mysite.com/keyword-one to http://www.mysite.com/key-word-one

I am looking for a little advice. I was looking into 301's a bit more and am wondering what the most search engine friendly way of doing this would be.

Could someone show me what I would copy and paste into htaccess and where for this to make it as search engine friendly as possible? With my examples shown.

    Any help is definitely appreciated.

Do you need the actual URL changed for SEO purposes or are you just moving content around and need the link redirected? If the latter, you could always use an htaccess "mask" as I like to call it. Not sure what it's really called.
    Code:
    RewriteEngine On
    Options +FollowSymlinks
    RewriteRule keyword-one key-word-one [NC]
So when you visit site.com/keyword-one, it will show keyword-one in the address bar but the content from key-word-one will be displayed. This will allow you to actually maintain the existing URL but load the content from the new URL if you are changing site structure/functionality and your old URL would normally be no longer operable.

If you are changing for SEO or other purposes that mandate that you actually change the URL and get rid of the old URL, you will just have to do a htaccess redirect like:
    Code:
    Redirect 301 keyword-one http://www.site.com/key-word-one

    I knew of this: Redirect 301 keyword-one http://www.site.com/key-word-one

I am just curious if that will save all the link juice? I changed the URL in the backend and then redirected, which now is working great. It works the way I want it, I just want to make sure the old URL that has all these anchored links to it will still effect this page its redirecting to.

I would actually recommend the first method in my post then.
