Need the advice of experienced offline marketers

    Hey guys I need some help here. The method that I have chosen to use is the "free website method" where you contact business and offer them a free website but they have to sign up with your hosting. This method is old but gold. Only hard part is finding the people who need a website. I have made a few tweaks on my part. I will voice broadcast my recorded message to recently incorporated businesses, and have them sign up for hosting under my OWN personal hosting/domain name company. But, before I spend money to set up my hosting company I wanted to make sure this method works. I gathered a list of 22 contacts from city websites that show new business listings. I found the websites by searching "new business listings city of + (name of city)". I used Call Fire for voice broadcasting (they offer 30 free credits on sign up, so like 30 calls..). Here is the test message I recorded and sent out to the 22 contacts today.

    MESSAGE:
    Hi, I just wanted to take a moment of your time, I?ll keep it short.
    I was calling because I did a search and I saw that you had recently registered your business. I work for a new web design company that is also in the process of launching our business, and we are looking for new people to work with. Again, we?re a new company, not many clients as of yet but, we?re offering FREE website design to 15 local companies in the area so we can build our portfolio. And, gain this IS free, Only catch is, it?s a first come first serve type deal. And we are contacting a lot of other people today. So, if you are interested in a FREE website message us ASAP at __________________________
    Again that is ________________________, Thank you.


    RESULTS:

    Live Answer: 11-50%
    Answering Machine: 9-49%
    Busy: 1-5%
    No Answer: 1-5%
    Credits: 20.0000

    Message length was 00:41 sec No emails yet, maybe my message wasn't too good, or my lead sources, or maybe because I sent to only 22 contacts. I think this is an awesome method but do any of the experienced marketers here have any advice as to what I could do to improve my campaigns. If they do email me this is the email I will send them to get them to sign up with my hosting. I am testing this out of course so I will send them to a hosting affilate link before I set up my own company. Here is the email I will send them if I get any responses from my broadcasts

    MESSAGE:

    Client: Hello, I got your message. I am interested in a free website. This is free correct?

    Me:

    Hi,

    Thank you for your response! Yes, your website design is totally free. I am only offering this to 15 local businesses so I can grow my portfolio and show to clients later on when I launch. You will need to send me info about your business along with any logos or images that you would like added to your website. I will also add a lead capture form on the front of your website, so when new customers visit your site they can leave you messages or feedback about your products/service or their experience. Very effective, trust me:)

    I have attached a document below with a list of all of the info I need to put together an awesome website design for you (send a logo/images too). The only other thing you will need to get is your own domain name for your website (so people can actually find you online) and a hosting plan (so your website is actually ON the internet).

    You will have to pay for these but it is probably less than $10. Keep in mind it is impossible to have to have a website without these. Every website in the world runs on this. Plus, you would have needed to purchase domain/hosting at some point if you wanted your own website.

    You can get a domain name and hosting plan here, _________________________________. They are quality providers and I have never ever had a problem with them whatsoever.

    Once you purchase your domain and hosting account, fill out the document I sent below and send me your logo/images and I will get started on your website right away.

    PS: When you get your domain and hosting account provide me with your login details so I can upload your website to the internet for you. (Or you can upload yourself if you like)

    What do you guys recommend me to do so I can get more email responses from these broadcasts? Should I just blast out recorded message to a bigger list of people, change the message or what? REALLY NEED THE HELP HERE!

    I think you need to test this with bigger amount of people, I would say 1 thousand. Then, after these calls, you can actually see the conversion rate and go from there.

    If you're doing a voice broadcast it's easier to convert them if you do a live answer also. As soon as they hear a voicemail they get turned off and hang up. 22 is too low of a number to really know if something is going to work. Try at least 1000 on your next blast and live answer.

    you cannot make conclusions from only 22 messages you need much than that, maybe a realistic representation of your target market. the message was good, short and direct to the point but I believe people dont like recorded messages. just do it live so that the communication can be two way.maybe they could ask some burning questions and you would answer directly to them and create interest. I believe that most people will think its only a scam if you send voice messages claiming to give them free websites. thanks and I wish you all the best

    You need to incorporate live agent and robo together.

    maybe you can try talking to them without using recorded messages, by that they will trust you more and will give you an immediate response on to why they will reject or accept your proposal. at least by this you will have first hand info not from your own assumptions.all the best

    Your positioning is all wrong....cut the new company b.s and this overeagerness to please them

    You need to frame this as exclusive pre-launch with cancellations and only 2 spots available pro-bono

    By the time you get this it will probably be too late etc....

    If you are chosen etc......try two cups of coffee vs $10

    You need a bigger sample size to see if it even works. Another thing to take into serious consideration is that as soon as people here a recorded message on the other side, most of them will hang up and not even care. Cold calling always works much better. I know it's effort, but it adds the pleasant human touch to it. They feel human, they can ask queries, and I'm sure you can sell better if you can adapt on hand instead of assuming a single type of response from everyone. 7 billion people in the world, and not even 2 are exactly the same. You'll do much better, trust me on that. So just pick up the phone, and call them. Tell them you've literally covered all your spots. Sell it through your skills, not your recorded voice.

    As above, sample size is not large enough to take anything away from this- revist your stats after perhaps 300.

    Drop the new business line, create an urgency, you need to prick the guys attention and make him act for fear of missing out. Also, I'd really encourage you to pick up the phone and speak to them instead of going down the recorded message route- you're offering will be of interest and you will see much greater success rates.

    You can invest in a softwere that tell you
    what business has got websites or not
    and email and even there socail stats.

    you need to use google and get this application.
