Hi Guys,

Hope all of you had a Wonderful Christmas and few of you are still enjoying the holidays.

I am a person who is working as a self employed in the field of Web Design and Development,so here i have to act for all this roles: Designer, Developer, bidding, sales, business development etc.

Sales, Business development and Getting leads
Its totally new for me.
Can anyone help me out to get success in these fields ? I have accounts on elance, freelancer, odesk etc (but no one believes easily in new profile,so it will take time and i am ready to wait till my profile become strong).

So apart from this job portals any other ways..?
Have heard about few websites like "craiglist, wpjobs.com etc.." please share with me if anyone is having other platforms, forums, websites which can be useful to get projects like: remote location, freelance etc.

In Marketing & Sales:

  1. What are the things i should follow and what are the areas or market i need to target...?
  2. Should i concentrate on direct client or companies?
  3. Which kind of direct clients or companies?
  4. Do i follow email marketing ?

I will be glad if anyone of you can help me here as i am in start up phase of my business.

Regards,
revivalpixel

You can search BHW, I believe all 4 questions have been discussed so many times.

It's refreshing for a new member to ask how to build a real business and not wanting
get rich methods. Let me point out a little advice from experience.

1. People don't know you. Put yourself out there and work on building a reputation
that proceeds you. That alone will help your business substantially but it does take time.

2. Contacts - You need them! Focus on several platforms to meet new people in a tactful
way without pitching your services and get social.

3. If web design is your vertical then you need a website showing samples or something for
people to look at.

Watch out for people wanting you to do work all upfront. Being new 50/50 is fair until you
build a reputation and then you can set guidelines for full payment.

Good luck with your business!

PS: Don't forget to make money in your backyard with ma and pa shops!
