I have around 15 websites in one specific niche (ecommerce websites) and several of them were hit by the latest updates. These websites have been around for almost 10 years so the content has been the same for a long time and I have been paying SEO for links monthly for the past few years. I am pretty sure we were hit due to the over optimization penalty considering these sites followed some old ways of SEO (hiding text keywords, mass amounts of bolding, spun content that made no sense with long tail keyword phrases in h1 / title / description with an image link to the domain with the index page content to try to hide the text from actual humans etc..)
We want to write additional content but it's hard considering we have been selling the same products for a long time, where would I be able to put this information you know. So we were thinking of making blogs on every single website (htp:/domain/blog/) with unique content posted maybe one or two times a week per blog. Does anyone think this is a good idea?
Would this actually work well, or would it be a better idea to post it on the website and try to figure out how to setup the links. We are trying to get our website back up on the ranks, and we fixed most of the over optimization problems listed above and want to think of the best way to distribute content on a website. I've been hearing that google treats blogs better but temporarily, but does it really matter if the content is posted on a blog or the actual website? How should I tackle adding more content to a website?
Sorry if this was posted in the wrong place - i wasn't sure where to post this, hopefully I can get some legitimate answers to my concerns. Thanks.
*Edit* Just wanted to clarify none of these sites interlink with each other whatsoever, not even in a link wheel form where you pass the pr around to each website. Read google was cracking down on those too.
