Need some mac users in here. Looking for a program

Hey all,

Can anyone tell me where I can get microsoft visual studio 2010 and be able to use it on the mac? I would hate to put VMWare or Parallels on here just for that one program.

I'm afraid you're out of luck - Visual Studio has never been (and there's no indication of it becoming) available for Mac so you'll need to run it on a VM

I had the same issue some time ago so I did quite a bit of research on it.

I was afraid of that. Sad thing is I have had VMWare and Parallels on this and both have been very laggy. Not sure if its cause I didnt have settings right or what. I even upgrade my RAM and still the same.

Instead of using VM or Parallels, you could dualboot your Mac so that you have a separate install of both Max OSX and Windows. You would need to restart your computer each time you wanted to switch environments. This would be a bit of a pain in the ass though so you will have to weigh the pro's and con's on how badly you need VS2010.

Dont need it that bad. I might just dust off the old desktop I have had since like 08...lol. Just hope it has enough ram and memory to run it

Yup, that's probably the easiest solution. OR you can always get a Windows-based VPS and do stuff through Remote Desktop Connection. Just make sure to test the connection speed between yourself and the VPS first (many hosting providers will gladly hook you up with a 1-day test) as often enough things get very laggy because of bad connection.

I'm in the same boat right now. I'm using two macbook pros..... and I think I need to dig out my old pc for some bot programs. I really, really wish I didn't have to dig that thing out of storage. Mac is such a superior machine, but when it comes to certain programs... I'm screwed. I've heard of the lag with vmware fusion... ah, frustrating.

I own and have tried many versions of parallels and vm. All a disappointment and a pain in the arse. slow as....and the constant need to upgrade. I have an old windoze laptop running xp that I fire up on the odd occasions I need. this will give you less headaches for sure.
